A number of travelling wildlife shows and kids reptile shows are way better.
We recently saw Reptile Parties in Melbourne and they allowed the people to hold the animals at a childrens birthday party, instead of the touch tail only caper we see at most zoos including this one.
The thing I liked about the reptile park and their snake show is that while the commentary is far from exciting and food at the venue is overpriced and tasted horrible, you also get to leave the mess there at the venue. This is better than at home, which is the end result of the reptile parties mob, and especially if the snakes poo all over your carpet!

Great Value for money!
The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable plus have some very entertaining and humorous shows.
There's a large picnic area with a few benches and plenty of shade where you can hangout with the Kangaroos.
There is a variety of animals but I would say the best part is the up close encounters where you can go inside the enclosures of some animals.

You can not go past the Australian reptile park for a great day out, luckily we live close by and visit often. I love how I can leave my snags in the car, get a "pass" out and cook them on the free bbq's, saves money and I know my kids will eat them, sharing your lunch with the emus and goose is fantastic but dont eat for too long, the alligator show is about to start, I love how the alligators know what time it is and start to swim over to the platform, one day when we went, ranger Mick had to resuce one of the staff because the alligator couldnt wait his / her turn for food, to watch them jump up and catch their food is amazing. Then its time to pat a koala or handle a snake (not for me thanks) have your photo taken and take the path round to see all the wonderful animals, dont forget the frogs on your way out, and then we always stop at the gift shop, and buy a little something, last time was a baby dingo pup stuffed toy, a bargain at only $15!
We will be going again soon because its my favourite place to go.
