We love this zoo and the kids get to hand feed some animals in the petting area. Definately need a map to navigate around it is a bit of a maze. It's great having it in the city but it really does need a larger location. I love the new kids hands on area. The food there isn't flash and can get expensive if you need to feed kids for a day. Lets the place down a bit. Great fun for kids even if it is a bit expensive we still love to go once in a while.

It's so easy to get there!  It's such a shame how much it costs to get in there though or else we'd go more often.

Is there even a parking lot there?  My family went with us to celebrate DS's first birthday, and even though the location is easy to find, we couldn't find a parking lot and it was very difficult to find a parking spot along the streets.

There were lots of different kinds of animals, we loved the variety there; which helped justify the small fortune it cost to get in there!  DS loved the mini petting zoo and we got a lot of sweet photos of him patting goats and chasing chickens.

When it came time to leaving we thought we'd get him a souvenir, it was his birthday after all!  It was so expensive in the gift shop.  The souvenirs were all quite generic (though decent quality).  We ended up getting him a tiger puppet, which he still adores.

I am in the understanding that the Adelaide has had trouble funding the place, I really think if they'd dropped the price to get in they'd solve a lot of problems!  I'd really like to take DS back, but I just can't justify the price.

This is the perfect sized zoo to take a 3 year old to. Everything is at a good height to view for little ones and its flat and easy to push a pram around. The pandas were great to see and are a real addition to the zoo. The gift shop is great and has good priced things to get the kids on the way out. The cafe has some nibbly foods that are good for a snack but i dont think they have enough for lunch. It only takes a few hours to go through so really good for younger kids who still need naps or who dont have the attention span for a huge full day zoo. This zoo is really good and one of my favourite places to visit when in adelaide!
My first impression of Adelaide Zoo is that it is over priced!!
If you will go often then it is worth buying a family pass.

Obviously the main attraction is the Pandas, Wang Wang and Funi and they really are delightful to watch.
Alot of the animals were sleeping when we visited as it was a hot day so if you are going to make a day of it a cooler day would be better.

Feeding times are great to see and they have a bird show in the main area a few times a day.
Paths are very wide and pram friendly and maps are easy to read.

For food there is a cafe, which like most establishments in parks is expenvise but not overly so, you can purchase souvenier's from the same store.

The zoo in a whole is not overly impressive and we will probably only visit every few years.
A great way to spend a day doing something the kids would love. Especially now the Adelaide zoo has two beautiful Pandas. Though you need to go at a good time to see the pandas in action. It can be a big day out for younger kids so you really do need a stroller and your best walking comfortable walking shoes on. Last time I went was a hot day and all the animals were sleeping. Best to go on a cooler (but not raining) day. Make sure you are there for animal feeding time especially the lions! My daughter loved watching them being fed.

Great for a day out with kids. We have the annual pass, and make the most of visiting the zoo at the best time of day (even if just for 1/2 to 1 hour to see animals at their best. Staff  members are always friendly. Entry into the zoo is always easy and quick. The staff at The Adelaide Zoo keep it so clean and child friendly. The amenities are always sparkling clean and the parents room is great too. Great restaurant, and great views. Adelaide zoo has  lots and lots of  species of exotic and native mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish exhibited in magnificent botanic surroundings. The zoo has a great place for  the kids where they can get up close to some of the animals. Its decorated with colourful paintings, mosaics, a pond with its own large frog statue, activities area and nursery. The Kids can explore the zoo by looking through windows.

overall a fun place for kids...
