We took The Toddler to the Bluewater Lagoon while we were visiting family in Mackay.
I wish we had a park like this near where we lived.
The best part is that it is awesome and the second best part is that it is free.
The huge lagoons cater for different ages and abilities so when The Toddler was paddling around in the shallow lagoon he wasn't run over by teenagers (who were probably off in one of the other lagoons higher up). There was a huge water park to play on - with slides and one of those huge tipping buckets. The Toddler wasn't old enough to appreciate this but he had a great time playing with the many small fountains/spouts of water around the pool. As it was a lagoon we could just wade in too - no need to get into the full swimming costume if you only plan on going it to your ankles.
There is also plenty of green space around the lagoons so you can have a nice family picnic there as well.
Overall a great place to take the kids - highly recommend it!
