The Ultimate Zumba Challenge – meet the challengers!

The Ultimate Zumba Challenge is on! Thanks to everyone who entered and congratulations to the 10 women selected to be challengers.

If you’re just joining us now, the 10 challengers received the Zumba Fitness Exhilarate DVD set but as part of the prize they have to keep a diary for eight weeks – tracking their progress along the way. At the end of the eight weeks one of them will win $5,000!

So – let’s meet our Zumba Challengers!

Hagrid is a Zumba virgin and mum to an 18-month-old. Her long-term goal is to fit into a size 12/14 wedding dress! She’s also keen to get fit – “fit enough to run around with my son and not be out of breath, walk my dogs and be an absolute pro at Zumba so I can show off in front of my partner.”

Anewme is a mum of six – her eldest is 18 and her youngest is only six months old! She’s keen to involve her children in her weight loss journey. “I want to teach my kids a better lifestyle. I want kids to learn that healthy lifestyle includes exercise. I want to include them in this change I am making.”

Nomsie is a 29-year-old mother of four-year-old twin boys (aka her Zumba backup dancers!). By the end of the eight weeks Nomsie wants to be back in size 12 clothes –  “Half of my wardrobe is size 12! I can’t wear half of my wardrobe- and of course- it’s the half that I actually LIKE!“

Angenrod is mum to a 16yr old and 11 week old and full-time step mum to a 14, 10 and 9 year old. Her aim is to be a positive role model for the five kids –  “I don’t want my kids to ever have a negative attitude to a healthy lifestyle.”

Emzluvbub is the mum of a baby boy and her goal is to look in the mirror and like what she sees. “This is the start of a lifelong commitment to a new me, a healthy me….a happy me.”

Giggle berry is mum to an 11-month old but didn’t put on her weight during pregnancy. It was the ‘backpacker’ lifestyle she enjoyed while travelling and living in Scotland. “10 years later we have relocated to Melbourne, and have our darling son in our lives. Unfortunately we have both gained a lot more than just him.” Giggle berry wants to lose the weight so she can TTC baby number 2!”

SpecialPatrolGroup is keen to set a good example for her three-year-old daughter. “I need to be the example of good health for my family to follow. Every night when I saw my daughter eating chips or shapes bikkies before dinner, something inside me would rage ‘NO, she deserves better than this’. I lost both of my parents at a young age and that can’t happen to my daughter. It won’t.”

Goblin Queen is about to turn 30 and is determined not to fall off the fitness wagon again. “This challenge is fantastic for me. Time and time again, I have promised myself that I will “be good”, eat right and exercise. Time and time again, I have fallen off the wagon. This time I am a determined woman. I will do this.”

Purple sparkles is a 31-year-old mum to an 18-month-old son. She’s hoping to add baby number 2 as soon as possible. Her aim is to lose 10% of her body weight – which equals 15.5kg. On the last day of the challenge she has an appointment with a fertility specialist. “We have been trying unsuccessfully to conceive baby number 2 for about six months and i believe that my weight is playing a big part in that.”

Luna Lovegood has set herself an awesome goal.  “At the end of the 8 weeks- win or lose, there is one thing I really want to do…and it’s a bit silly…I want to go to the beach, in my bikini, and run around and swim with my DD without feeling insecure…and maybe even let DH take a photo of DD and and I together…”

So we hope you enjoyed ‘meeting’ the 10 challengers.

They’re an incredible group of woman who have accepted the challenge to do something about their lifestyle. They are bravely sharing their background, their motivation and their often-heartbreaking stories with you all in The Ultimate Zumba Challenge Diaries.

They really would appreciate your words of support and encouragement as they continue on their journey.

All the best girls!!
