I always found a warm bath worked wonders.

    Hope that helps

Thanks. I bath him every night and as usual did tonight when he was already over tired. Now he is in his bed grizzling on and off. It happens a lot - he becomes over tired; because he doesn't sleep very soundly during the day

Quite room, dim the lights, soft humming, and a gentle rock in mummy's arms.

I do this every night, over tired or not. Sometimes he will fall asleep in my arms but then if I put him in his bed he will either wake straight away OR 5 mins later, doh!

I also do this (or the pram during the day) and once we have stopped (in the pram) he wakes and once I get him out of the car he wakes! Arrrrgh!

My surefire trick is to strap grizzybum into the carrier and go for a brisk walk. Preferably out in the air and whooshing traffic noise. I hold his head firmly by gently against my chest and he's asleep before I've gone half a block.
