    Default Christmas 2021

I need to cheer myself up. I love Christmas, so I thought I'd focus on it a little earlier this year. We're nearly in September. And September is nearing the start of the Christmas season, so we're nearly nearing the start...

    Anyway

What are your plans? Have you started (or finished) your Christmas shopping? How do you plan on decorating this year?

I have no plans except to have Christmas Eve dinner with the boys.
I have mostly finished my shopping.
No idea about decorating yet. I bought a new tree last year plus some new dinnerware, so I'm excited about using them this year.

haven’t even thought about it. shopping, not at all. between all the covid stuff and shops being closed, it’s not even been on the radar. dh and i will probably start thinking about it as september rolls into october. no gift ideas for the kids though really.

Yes!!! I’m a Christmas fanatic! And lock down has definitely given us extra time for planning - pathetic it seems I know but Xmas is a big deal for our family
I’ve already bought this year’s wrapping paper and decided on colours for the tree and table settings (emerald green and warm gold) we take turns in hosting Xmas and this year it’s at my house (covid willing!) I’ll have approx 16 adults snd 8 kids under 11 , my sister and I are literally just working on the menu now , I’m also thinking a grinch theme for the kids table and yard decorations , I’ve started writing down some present ideas but will wait until after October to buy (DS birthday is in October as is 7 of my nieces and nephews so we wait snd see what they get for their birthdays first )

That’s my wrapping paper - plus gold ribbon - Santa obviously has his own paper which is red with red and white ribbons

Ooh I LOVE Christmas!! I haven't had questions about it but I suspect the magic is almost over for ds1 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 he's 10.5....

Anyway. No ideas at all for gifts, so I haven't even started. I did joke, I front of dsw that we should just buy him a box of different technology cables and devices like keyboards, mice, speakers etc.... he was so happy he cried 🤦‍♀️

I'd love to do our house up in lights but you can't see it from the trees we have planted around for privacy, but that now means any lights are pointless (and I've lost enthusiasm since they get cut or stolen)

I'd love to do a brown paper with various red/ white ribbon wrap... like this...

Oh I love Christmas. It is technically my mums year to host but I think it will end up being at our place as we won’t be travelling interstate and nor will my sister.

I’m thinking of getting the kids a cubby but not 100% yet.

I’m keen to overhaul the tree theme this year, it’s been red and silver for 6 years but I’m keen on something new.

    Otherwise no real plans.

    Default Christmas 2021

Our current plan is to spend Christmas in Germany. But of course so many things need to happen for that to be possible so I’m not getting my hopes up. Seems strange to even write that as the idea seems rather far fetched. Who knows where we will be and what we will be doing 🤷‍♀️

A European Christmas is on my bucket list. I hope at least you and DH are reunited even if it’s not in Germany.

Every year when our kids were little I used to beg DH to go to Ireland for Christmas but he always said it’s just so miserable. And I know it is because I lived in London for 4 years and the days are so short, it’s still dark at 8am and dark at 4pm m. It’s bloody freezing! There’s nothing to do because it’s so cold. But I still wanted to go and do the white Christmas somewhere!

My kids just did their wish lists last weekend!! It is a big year for us, DD1 turns 18 a few days before and DD2 turns 13 a month after. I've started to think about a few things that they haven't told me. The focus is on the bdays though this year i think!

This thread was posted with perfect timing! I usually have most of my shopping done by now, but I've been stuck for ideas this year and have only bought a few small things. With how delayed postage has been and how many things I'm noticing are out of stock, I said to dh lastnight that we really need to start brainstorming

Every second Christmas my siblings travel here, and this year is supposed to be it. No idea how that will pan out with covid though 🤷‍♀️
