Apparently 20% of frontline health workers are not vaccinated which is why they are trying to make it mandatory for them, you would have assumed out of all occupations they would have volunteered first , would be interesting to hear why they were hesitant? I suppose same for police ect

I was wondering what the % would be there. It would be interesting to know - I'm guessing it's for a range of reasons, like other groups.

It strikes me that it's a bit daft to be forcing frontline healthcare workers out of jobs if hospitals are under pressure - it's not like they're expendable.

Local council workers and one in IT , the local
council ones are apparently part of a lot of council workers in Sydney and their union is organising it for them

@babyno1onboard, I read your post earlier but didn't have a chance to reply.

I'm at ease with mandatory vaccination, where necessitated, as a prerequisite or ongoing part of employment in particular fields, for the sole reason that a person would have known it came with that line of work/specialisation. We all walk into a career choice knowing or with an idea of the potential risks and OH&S regulations involved.
I don't speak for everyone, but I think that's where the anger would be stemming from - People feel blindsided and deceived by the left-field mandate.
The second issue would be that it's relatively new, and that would undermine confidence.

My neighbour works as a nurse in aged care in a hospital setting (don't know the specifics as they changed roles a little while ago). Chatting over the fence and they said 2 staff were transferred to another department as they will not get vaccinated on religious grounds.

The religious thing brings in a whole other kettle of fish into the argument for "shunning" the unvaccinated.

I find it odd that people are allowed to work in a nursing home setting and not be vaccinated. For example I can't enter the nursing home my uncle lives in without proof of the flu vax.

In addition to not vaxxing on religious grounds, there are some people who cannot be vaccinated due to medical conditions. Should they be treated as second class citizens? What about currently pregnant and lactating women who would otherwise have the jab but are prohibited?

Pregnant women are currently an immunisation priority group, they should have no issue getting access.
I also have no issue with aged care, healthcare, close working environment jobs being no jab no job. Anywhere shown to be hotbeds of outbreaks should be on the list for required immunisation.
