Have you or your partner ever used non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) before? Do you live in Australia?

If so, you are invited to participate in a research project conducted by investigators at Monash University. Participation involves a 15-minute online survey.

It is possible that, in the future, NIPT could be used to test the fetus for some of the genes associated with adult-onset conditions, which are conditions that only start affecting you when you are an adult. Examples include Huntington’s disease, early-onset Alzheimer’s disease and hereditary cancer like bowel or breast cancer. The possibility of testing the fetus for these conditions comes with potential benefits but also some ethical concerns.

Relatively little is known about what NIPT users think about the ethical issues associated with this testing.
This survey aims to explore your support for NIPT screening for adult-onset conditions and your views on the impacts of this testing. The survey is completely anonymous and the research team will not know who has responded or have access to any contact details.

Thank you for your interest in the survey.
