    Default Clinginess

Hi all. I’ve got a 13mo daughter. And she is SO CLINGY. If I even put her down for a second she starts to scream.

If I sit down with her it’s like she’s literally trying to crawl inside my chest lol. If I hand her to anyone else she starts to scream (even DH which hurts his feelings a bit!).

I have to admit most of the time I’ll indulge her and pick her up because I always wanted her to know she could come to me for a cuddle. But maybe this is the wrong approach?

She usually gets over the screaming after a minute or two if I’m leaving her at daycare or with a grandparent. But if she knows I’m around, she will scream bloody murder till she’s back in my arms or lap.

It’s nice to be needed but I have to admit by the end of each day I’m a bit drained.

    Is this normal?

Yes! Separation anxiety peaks a couple of times between 1 and 2 or so.

This happened for kiddo between 2 and 3, at my parents suggestion, I let them take him when he was clinging to me a few times, I ignored his screaming and crying, usually he was fine with them inside 5 mins of being put in their car.

This has been our life too for a good couple of months I'm hoping it's just a phase!

Thanks everyone sounds like this is normal! That makes it so much easier to tolerate haha. Will just have to get used to being yelled at whenever I want a moment to myself

I hear you! My 18 month old is a clingy boobie monster. I'm trying to wean her by "not offering/not refusing"... however have stsrted telling her that "boobies are sleeping/boobies are empty". Doesn't help.
I nornally wouldn't care but I'm going away for two nights next weekend... eek! When we planned the trip 12 months ago we seriously thought she'd be weaned and sleeling better than she is by now.

Dd2 is 21 months old, she's very assertive about wanting boob - she'll point to where she wants us to sit and go, "mama, sit down!"
