    Default IVF/ICSI Help !!!

    Hello everyone,

We have been doing Ivf/icsi from past 4 years. Myself 34 and my partner is 42. We have both female and male fertility issues. I was diagnosed with endometriosis and my parter has low sperm count and ejaculatory problems and thats why we have always tried icsi with tesa/pesa/electro ejaculation.
Fortunately we got pregnant in our third embryo transfer(fresh, stim 2) with Monash. I had a healthy pregnancy but unfortunately we lost our son at 40 weeks after delivering due to medical complications . We were devastated and it took us a while to try again. Fortunately we had 4 frozen embryos from that cycle, we tried 4 FET’s and nothing worked. We changed our FS and ivf clinic and went to Dr Lynn Burmiester. She is lovely and we have tried 3 stims with surgical sperm retrieval and everytime we have ended up with only 1/2 day 5 embryos😔 third cycle was worst, she did two egg retrieval cycles back to back and collected 27 eggs, they did icsi for 24 eggs, 11 got fertilised and none made to day5 and transfer got cancelled😔 everytime they are telling because of the poor sperm quality we are getting poor fertilisation results. now we are really confused what to do.. whether we have to change FS or keep trying??😔 at this stage I don’t want to think about donor sperms as it worked for us previously. I am still hopeful but just confused what we should do😔😔

    Can anyone help...
any success stories with male factor problems?? Any success with pesa/tesa/electro ejaculation sperm samples ??
Does fertilisation depends on the clinics ??

Hi Tasha, I’m so sorry to hear about your loss.
My partner has low count, low morphology and motility, after 4 years of trying for a baby we went and got help I will never forget the doctor telling me that we were better off with donor sperm as his sperm was no good, donor sperm wasn’t an option for us due to religious purposes so we went to a fertility specialist who suggested we do ivf/icsi, so we did and we were very fortunate it worked the first round and have a healthy 2 year old. I did a FET back in august in hopes for a sibling which sadly resulted in a early miscarriage, but I just wanted to say as long as your partner has sperm it is very possible as it has worked for you guys before. Me and my partner went back for another round of ivf early this month and were told in February his sperm has worsened since 2018 so we froze 2 vials of sperm just in case there are no sperm in the future, I don’t know if that’s something your FS has suggested but it would really be worth something to look into. Wishing you all the best

@Tasha24 I’m so sorry for your loss. We lost our first son at 24 weeks he was also conceived using ivf.

We had significant male factor infertility and did 6 fresh rounds with DH sperm he had surgical retrieval but the quality was just terrible. We were getting 18+ eggs and getting 1 day 5 blast if any. One of the issues with the surgical retrieval is that the sperm isn’t always mature so that can cause issues.

Our fertility specialist told us that we could keep trying and it might eventually work or we could try donor sperm, this is what we ended up doing. He always said think about how you will feel in 30/40 years time and what you will regret, using a donor or never having kids. It worked for us but I fully understand that it is a really difficult thing to do.

Honestly the best you can do is stay positive during this journey (easier said then done)
We went with a different complete different FS. Being told to go for donor right away didn’t sit right with us. Maybe it’s worth looking into changing FS. x

Thank you Layla, thats what we have decided now just to change FS and see how everything goes. Just deciding on the FS, hard one to pick now 😬Luckily we have got few frozen sperm sample from electro ejaculation last time. They have freezed 3 straws from electro and 1 straw from micro tese. Hopefully they will be able to transfer the sample to the new clinic without any issues and hopefully some good sperms are present in that sample. And yes we are trying to stay positive as much as we can.
    Thanks for your kind words❤️🙏

It’s hard to choose a clinic, but I hope you find one that’s right for you both. They should let you transfer without any problems you may have to pay a fee or something, wishing you all the best and sending baby dust your way ❤️❤️❤️
