Default 5-6 weeks pregnant ultrasound didn't see anything.

Hi all, I was in hospital over the weekend as I was bitten by a spider. So whislt I was in there I had them do a ultrasound.i had to do a wee sample prior so my bladder was empty. Nothing showed up at all on the ultrasound. The Dr didn't seem to worried as he said i had a empty bladder and it could be just to early to tell. Anyone experience this at all? I would be about 5-6 weeks pregnant.

    Freaking out a little!

If it was an external scan rather than transvaginal and you are only 5 weeks, I wouldn't expect to see anything.

Yes I had an ultrasound too early couldn’t see anything had to go back in a copy of weeks later, I wouldn’t worry- very small at this stage.

I wouldn't go for an abdominal ultrasound anytime before 7 or 8 weeks as there's not much to see. If they did a vaginal ultrasound they might see the gestational sac and potentially the yolk sac, but personally I wouldn't want to have a vaginal ultrasound without good reason (e.g. miscarriage or dating scan).

Specialised women's health ultrasound places have machines which are able to pick up embryo/ heartbeat a lot earlier, even transabdominal, whereas your run-of-the-mill hospital ultrasound machine is far less likely to detect anything that early.

I had to have an internal scan at 10w to see bub- external scan (on a specialised obstetric machine) didn't show anything at all. He was just hiding low down.
