So the people themselves voted to donate them? Or some bureaucrat decided that city folk deserved priority access and took it upon themselves to make an offering on everyone's behalf?

I'm sticking with stripped. Regional people deserve priority access just as much as we do. In fact they probably need it more. It takes one person from Sydney to defy travel bans and infect an entire town that may or may not have the facilities to cope with a outbreak.

And yes I'm aware that if you control the outbreak here faster, then regional people will be better off and safer, but with the amount of selfishness displayed, solely focusing on Sydney isn't a fool proof method.

Eta: Perhaps I need to clarify that this is not a serious comment. I can never tell. So just in case.

Well, here in regional nsw I can confirm that I was not consulted about whether I wanted to donate my vaccines or not.
I was indeed quite surprised to find that no one gave two sh*ts as to my own feelings about it.
I don’t have an appointment yet. I have registered but none are available yet. I have received three texts apologising for the delay and reassuring me that I will receive a vaccine. About one text every two weeks.
Eventually I will receive a vaccine.
Just not feeling it right now.

The vaccine rollout has missed the mark entirely, there’s a large percentage of the “older population “ still not fully vaccinated or vaccinated at all. Yet I am aware of quite a few people that want to get vaccinated but can’t and I don’t think them offering AZ to everyone is the right answer when if the people I knew that want it went through the correct process and booked in through the government website it automatically defaults them to Pfizer not AZ. It’s all such a mess

39% of over 70s are fully vaccinated

41% of 80-84 are fully vaccinated

50% of over 90s are fully vaccinated

We are such a way off having 80% fully vaccinated that they keep harping on about. Feel we will be in lockdown forever

There is also huge numbers of healthcare workers not vaccinated. I work a plenty of nurses who have applied online to get an appointment and have been told they will have to wait.

I think it’s important to look at the numbers of people who have had their first dose - they will have their booster shots booked in and be fully vaccinated very soon. One shot also offers quite good protection.

Edit: for anyone you know who wants AZ, tell them to go directly to their GP or a walk in vaccination hub to avoid any website stuff ups.

Does anyone know what the ongoing deal is with vaccines, will it be an annual booster or is a one and done type thing?
