Default *fluff* Only in the movies/on tv

Have you noticed that there are scenarios that happen a lot in movies or in tv shows that rarely happen in real life?

    Some that come to mind:

    - A woman, usually young like a babysitter, will use someone's bathroom and use the lipstick they find in there. I mean, is herpes not a concern? Gross!

    - When a teenager is the main character, they almost always have a deceased parent.

    - Weddings being disrupted by someone who is in love with the bride or groom, and somehow everything works out swimmingly. In fact, sometimes the person being left at the altar is super chill about it.

    Feel free to add

    - when a woman is pregnant and goes into labour, they have to go to the hospital right away. They also go into full blown labour from the first contraction.

    - every pregnant woman’s waters break prior to labour and do so with a grand pop and gush. Also contractions start immediately.

I think Rachel’s labour in Friends was the most realistic for a first time mum in that it took hours. (Many other aspects were of course unrealistic).

They always live beyond their means, think Carrie in SATC.

Drs do everything and nurses hardly exist. On the same genre drs seem to be jack of all trades taking out peoples appendix and doing heart transplants.

On the subject of labour, newborns are almost always played by babies that are 6 months + old!

Yep. My step daughter lives in the US. She’s 30 now and been there since she was 9. She never says goodbye when we FaceTime or chat on the phone. It’s so annoying.

I must admit my labor with ds1, the first sign was a dramatic (audible even) pop and a gush... and a constant flow. I filled a regular pad and it was pooling at my feet I under 2 mins (ds was NOT engaged in the slightest) we had an hour drive to hospital, we had 2 garbage bags lining the back seat (mum came too, I said I'd go in the back), with 3 towels, I also had a thick microfiber dressing gown on and by the time we got to hospital there was a pool of water. The towels etc were soaked

Midwives easily confirmed my waters had broken but the constant flow. (I'm still amazed by how it just didn't stop)

Obviously that's not the norm, but it does happen contractions however took 16 hours to start

    - how Americans seem 0 to always have this huge breakfast spread like it's a huge Xmas lunch. What happened to just toast? Or cereal? No let's have fruit, yoghurt, eggs, bagels, croissants, mixed meats...

    - Australians always saying "g'day mate, throw another shrimp on the Barbie"
