    Default What would you wear??

DS and I are having photos taken together on Wednesday by my SIL. The setting will be bush / dirt roads etc.
I have no idea what to wear. I’m nervous as hell. Never had a single photo of me I actually liked. I see every flaw. But I’m doing this because I want DS and I to have some pics of us together that aren’t selfies.

Since I’ve lost stacks of weight I have nothing in my wardrobe except corporate, or jeans/trackies. And I really don’t want jeans for photos. But also my work stuff seems weird for a bush setting.

SIL recommends long flowy dresses for family shoots. But I’m not really a long flowy dress kind of person.

Also given its two days away, and I live regionally, it has to be something I can recreate from my limited wardrobe.

What I do have that might work...
    Long navy tiered skirt
    Long navy linen skirt
    Black satin midi skirt
    Navy 7/8 pants
White shirt / t shirts / white off shoulder top
    Denim jacket
    Leather jacket
Jeans (not suggesting with denim jacket)
Any number of shirt dresses (black, navy pin stripe, cream with navy pinstripe)
A khaki dress that could work with maybe a jacket over it to make it more casual
Any number of heels (various colours)
    White sneakers
Stacks of tan leather sandals (various heel heights / types)

Any ideas? Suggestions? Things to avoid? Pics you’ve seen that look good for this kind of thing? Help!

And if anyone wants to share their own pics they’ve had done for inspo that would be great. But totally understand if you don’t want to.

    Navy linen skirt
    Tan sandles

    OR

    Dress shirt
    Tan sandles

Strike me as casual but neat for a photoshoot.

    Definitely no stripes.

    White off shoulder too
I don’t really know what 7/8 pants are, but if they’re mid calf and slim fit then these
    Tan sandals.

But I also class an oodie as acceptable clothing so maybe I’m not the best person to recommend stuff

we’ve had a family shoot in a bush setting a few couple of years in a row. first year i wore black skinny jeans, navy & white stripy tee and blue denim jacket. white leather nike trainers.

second year i wore black skinny jeans, a leopard print top, camel trench and terrcotta coloured leather country road sneakers.

i had the same pickle as you, just wasn’t sure what to wear in an outdoorsy bush setting. anything over formal, i felt, would look overdressed and silly, and make the image feel really staged. but i wanted it to look nice and feel like i was “dressed up” beyond my usual casual gear. i also wanted timeless stuff, so i don’t look back in a couple of years and cringe at the faddy style of the time.

i’d go a basic top or bottom then choose a feature item, for me, it was the top (patterned). the rest of the outfit was dressy but not too formal.

from the options you’ve listed, i like the idea of the khaki dress with either white leather trainers or sandals. it’s dressed up casual and not too formal.

I would wear the navy linen skirt, a white T-shirt and tan sandal. Our photographer always says to avoid busy patterns as they can show up funny in the images. In my head this is the outfit but maybe it’s nothing like what you have.IMG_6168.jpgIMG_6169.jpgIMG_6170.jpg

Something like the first photo would be good.

Specifically from your list, I'd go with navy linen skirt, white tee and denim jacket (if a light colour) and either flats or wedges.

    Ugh ignore the hideous shadows.
I look better in heels but the heels I have are business / dressy except these low wedge sandals. Ignore the cat
