I love my house. I’ve been here nearly three years. But the one thing I dislike is my pantry. It’s two tall cupboards side by side that pull out with shelving inside.
So I want to create a walk in pantry behind the current fridge space which backs onto the toilet (huge huge space) and also into the garage which is huge.
The only issue is that if I make a walk in, the fridge will have to be inside it. There’s nowhere else for it.
I think I’ll only be able to have something 2.1m x 2.4m
So the plan I have is on the 2.1m side - have a cavity sliding door to get into the pantry, and the fridge space.
Opposite that I’d have a 60cm wide benchtop running along the full wall with open shelves above and below.
I’m not sure if get more pantry space but it would be better organised and easier to see / access things.
I would also get more storage in the kitchen because I’d put cupboards / drawers in place of the existing pantry and replace the current oven with a double.
I have dodgy drawings if anyone wants to see🤭
So questions:
1. Do you have a walk in / butlers pantry? If so, what are the dimensions
2. What do you like / dislike about your butlers pantry?
3. Is your fridge in it?
4. What else can you tell me about your butler’s pantry?

I have a WIP and love it. Not sure what the dimensions are, it’s quite large (maybe 1.5 x 5) and perhaps too large - there’s no incentive to keep it tidy
There is a bench for about 1.5 m of it.
My previous house had a WIP about the size you are thinking of and the fridge was in it. No issues with the fridge being in there aside from guests always asking where the fridge was.
Feel free to share pics!!
Is it something like this?

I don't have a WIP (mine is also side by side), but I'd be happy to look at the drawings and offer suggestions.

This is the current pantry - excuse the disorganised messiness. That’s part of the reason for change.

This is what I want to turn that area into

And this is the rough sketch of the pantry.

Of course all this depends on me being able to turn the toilet around and push out into the garage. Which has this kind of alcove

And the toilet is this ridiculously huge room

What if you put the fridge opposite the door and shelving along the 2.4m wall?
Eta. So long as you can avoid a dead corner next to the fridge.Last edited by AdornedWithCats; 09-08-2020 at 20:30.

I love my WIP it is huge But our kitchen is also on the large size with a 4m long island bench.
Our original design had the fridge in the pantry but we moved the fridge to the kitchen area and have our chest freezer in the WIP and a small bar fridge along one wall and floor to ceiling shelving on the other wall where all the food is kept as well as plenty of bench space and outlets to plug all my appliances in.
I dont know measurements sorry. But my favourite thing would have to be being able to have the chest freezer in the pantry and not in the garage

You could look at one of these options to get a bit more storage in. I like the last one.
