Hi ladies, it's exciting to hear you making plans! I'm planning on going back to Cyprus in May. I've been in touch with Growing Families about helping me with an exemption application. They say they will also guarantee you can get home again. I'm not sure how though.

I'm also looking at applying for an early super release and spoke with Supercare last week. They said that the ATO are still approving release for overseas egg donation but you need your FS to say that you need egg donation and it is not readily available in Australia. They also said the applications go to a reviewer and are taking 6-8 weeks but age indicated that they are likely to be approved if supported by an FS.. However, from what some of you ladies are saying that may not be the case? Has anyone used Supercare for an application for overseas egg donation recently?

I would ordinarily handle the applications myself but I want to make sure they are approved without any issues.

    Thanks for your help xx

Thanks for your reply. It’s so upsetting you went through all that stress and didn’t have a positive outcome

Wow that’s great how quickly they approved it. I was thinking of getting my GP to write the letter, do you know whether that would be acceptable or whether it had to be a specialist? Are you able to give me an idea of what they wrote?

I’ve looked into Growing Families too...do you know how much they charge to help? I’m not sure whether it’s worth having them helping or just doing it myself.

Can’t help re. Supercare sorry. We did all the super applications ourself previously.

Growing Families charge $300. My thinking is that considering how much we've spent on IVF so far, it's not much if they make it easier for us .

$300, with a guarantee you will get home!
That's a bargain in my book...

    Hmmm...

    That's really made me think.
I caught up with a friend this morning and she seemed to think Melbourne would be in lockdown again by March. Not sure if she's reading to much anti Dan, anti vaccine or just to many negative websites, but depending on how things go. I might look at going mid year.

My Dad was in hospital for five days last week. Heart failing... So... Depending on how my dad is going. If they can get me back in a few weeks... I might try.

I better get onto a FS here I melb then.

Hello @POAS hopeful can I ask did you organise all your own flights and there was not much hassle with getting back to AU, any flight changes, bump offs?? I’m not sure how some travel companies mentioned can guarantee to get their client back home - are they providing a statement to airlines that their client is on an exemption to fly out of the country on medical grounds so therefore should have the same pathway back into the country, ie a priority? I’m thinking that once an AU citizen chooses to leaves the country then why should they then be let back in when they want to - like in the ‘old days’ (!) - as we know AU citizens have been waiting months to fly in and are competing for flights and/or getting bumped off flights continually...

No, we got Chris Lancaster to book everything. He does not guarantee you will get home, but has not had anyone stuck yet. I did here of people being bumped, but Chris got them back on the flight. Def use him if you are planning to go.

Do you mind sharing with me the contact details of Growing Families? And how does it work? I'm in Perth and looking to travel by the end of May to Ukraine so we might need an exemption too.
