If our donor cycle works we plan to tell our immediate families when we announce the pregnancy. My parents already know we are going to do the donor cycle too. We want to normalise it from the very start and not have to make an announcement about it later. We feel it will also normalise it for our child so that it can be something we openly discuss (at a level appropriate for their age). But I agree with everyone’s sentiments that it is such a personal choice to make and there is no right answer.

Hi @Makeuplover40 Its been a long time since I have written on here but I have two amazing little boys thanks to egg donation through Embryoland. We have already started telling them about our egg donation journey (as much as a 1 and 3 year old can understand through books etc) and Im really hoping discussions just kind of come naturally. I would love to take them to meet Dr Nikos one day. I don’t like the idea of keeping a secret from my boys (I always want us to be open and honest about anything with each other) and I don’t think they, or we, should feel any sort of shame about how they got here (I think it’s amazing). While I don’t really tell them all that often I think the stories of my trips to Greece are my best ones and anyone I tell is more interested/curious if anything. There definitely is no right or wrong answer on weather to tell your kids or not (just like all egg donation decisions), go with your gut and what is best for your family. All the best.
