What would you do?

I am only 28 years old (29 in March), but apparently have terrible eggs, and 3 different FS have said practically the same thing, "I have a 2% chance of being successful with my own eggs", "2 more cycles with your own eggs, maybe start talking/thinking about donor eggs", "you have a very interesting case and this is very rare!"...

I am going to get a Laparoscopy and a Hysteroscopy, to investigate more just to rule anything out going on inside me. I don't have private health, so this is going to cost around $6k in itself, before we do any more cycles! Given I only have 2 more cycles left, I asked my FS about using a human growth hormone for egg quality. But he doesn't seem to think it works after his studies and is quite expensive, so just adding an extra cost on top of everything. But he is happy to add it on if we want?

Obviously I want to throw absolutely everything at my next cycle, I am on all supplements for egg quality, I will start doing acupuncture in the next few weeks, doing the surgery, changing from Gonal F to pergoveris.

What would you do?

There are several studies that suggest the use of DHEA (not to be confused with DHA) that have results showing a lot of positive outcomes for egg quality. But that's something to discuss with your specialist.

It depends how important having your own biological children is to you. Some people are fine with the thought of someone else's genetics, other people only want their own biological children. I'm the latter, so, if it was me, I'd give it as many shots as I could afford and pull out all stops to use my own eggs or try to improve my egg quality.

You need to find right fs. I did 5 cycles and was never able to get any blast but changed fs and protocol plus lab and got 6 grade 1 blasts. I think you have pcos and pcos ovaries are really sensitive so only a knowledgeable fs can predict when to trigger. I triggered with dual trigger and stimulated for 10 days. I would not think of donor eggs as my fs said the same. You are only 28 and with pcos you have lots of eggs so its just finding the right mix. I did pergoveris this cycle but i did it one cycle before and that cycle I didn’t get any blast. I think this time we stimulated 10 days as opposed to my usual8 days, we triggered with dual trigger to improve egg quality and used melatonin for 3 months and coq10. But mind you I was taking these for all unsuccessful cycles as well. My fs is dr. Alison gee from genea sydney. If you need more details please message me. Don’t think of donor eggs just yet you are young and have plenty of time. Right fs and right laboratory is the key.

Having my own biological child is extremely important. It is just unfortunate that we are very limited here in SA when it comes to fertility clinics. I have asked multiple Drs now about using DHEA, but because of my high AMH, they've advised that it would do more harm than good to my eggs.

I have changed diet, added as many supplements as possible, changing out next cycles protocol. Will also start acupuncture late Feb, doing the laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, to rule out anything happening inside me and then talking to Dr GM regarding immune stuff. As I do have antibodies!

So looking in to HGH (Saizen) is my next question, will this help with egg quality. My Dr said no, but happy to chuck it in if we really want too...

You definitely give me hope! My Dr, was talking about putting me on roughly 180iu of pergoveris and using orgalutran and then Lucrin trigger. But only the single trigger.. I roughly stim for 10 days as well.. I am taking FH Pro which has 2mg of Melatonin and 300mg of CoQ10 (as ubiquinone). Been almost 2 months of this. What coq10 did you use? I was also told that Myo-Inositol is also good for pcos? Can your remember how much melatonin you were on? I wonder if I should get a script for this?

Can you remember what dose of pergoveris you used and what trigger? I might put this to my Dr and see what he has to say? If my next cycle doesn't work maybe I might reach out to your doctor? We don't have a huge variety of clinics in Adelaide, and we are currently with the best Lab in SA haha. Not much we can do about that..

With the successful cycle, did you use lucrin and pregnyl as a trigger and how many egg were collected? I am thinking I want to use saizen next cycle as well. Just so I can throw everything at the cycle?

They collected 20 eggs and 16 fertilised. 6 top quality blasts were frozen. Saizen might be good idea. Yes I used both triggers. Good luck for your next cycle. When are you expecting to start?

That is so amazing, I am definitely going to say I want to try it and melatonin! I just found out my thyroid levels have gone back up. Tested in December, when I had to go in for beta, was 3.54 on the 20th of December. Today it's back up to 15!!! Explains why I am so exhausted again! I need to have my levels sorted before doing another cycle. Hoping to hear about when I can get in to do the Lap & HSC this week. So it all depends on when I can get that done and when my thyroid will be some what normal again?

I also wanted to get in with Dr GM before doing another cycle, due to my thyroid antibodies...
