Default Deli meats, yay or stay away?

This is my third pregnancy and I’ve always avoided deli meat such as salami and cabanossi while pregnant. I have always eaten ham though and salami etc if cooked like on pizza.
Anyway- are they safe to eat?? I’d love to have some salami and cabanossi on a platter over the festive season!!

Food doesn't have to look off or smell off in order to be infected with listeria. Cooking it at 65+ degrees will render it dead, so there's that.

I craved deli meats near constantly during my pregnancy with my third bub but didn't touch them. 9 months is such a short time... And no craving nor food was worth the risk of my child not being able to take their first breath or open their eyes.
I know that other issues can arise and there is no guarantee of healthy live baby, but most issues are out of my control, whereas consuming risky foods are completely within my control.

Of course, for every person that says ''not worth the risk'', 10 more will say ''I had them and my baby was completely fine''. Well of course they were, as it's only a small amount of pregnant women who are infected with listeria. The problem is, SOMEONE has to be in that 1 in whatever and no one can predict who it will be.

    TL;DR: Stay away.

I'm steering clear. Which is making me sad at Christmas, because I love the cold Christmas ham!!

I've spent 6+ years and $40k to get here, as much as I want some ham it's honestly not worth it!!

The risk isn’t worth it to my baby, for me. It’s just personal choice. Like not drinking alcohol 🤷🏻‍♀️

I agree with the gals, I adore deli meats but have not risked it for my pregnancy, Listeria is silent and deadly for pregnant women and can strike any cold cuts etc.
It's a small price for a small time, but I tell you what, I'm hanging for a salad sandwich with ham lol 2 weeks to go!!
I'm not super strict about my diet but there are a handful of non negotiable items for me
Deli meat (unless cooked and hot)
Salad (unless I wash it and make it myself)
    Runny egg
    Alcohol
    Undercooked meat
    Non pasteurised cheese

Personal choice but I avoided it while pregnant. Christmas ham is my absolute favourite but it wasn’t worth it to me.

Too risky imo. I do go a little OCD with food choices while pregnant....so I'm prob more to the extreme...but, everyone has their own comfort levels.
I just had my 3rd bub recently, and now I am eating everything and anything lol.

I think I’ll give it a miss. I did buy some salami but might enjoy it in a toastie lol. I still eat Christmas ham but my mum glazes it so it has been cooked again. The only things that ever bother me that I can’t eat are deli meat and soft serve ice cream
