What kind of goodies do you like to eat around the silly season?
I’m writing out a list of things that I can add to my weekly grocery shop so I don’t have to buy it all in one go.
I don’t mean fresh things like cherries, seafood etc but more along the lines of salted cashew nuts, shortbread etc.
I also have got the ingredients for rum balls and rocky road written down but would love some more ideas along the same line. I’m a very basic cook so the easier the better lol.

We make the “kids” version of white Christmas which is always a hit. Might get a little adventurous this year & try something new as well

My regular Christmas baking is mostly just:
Shortbread
Rumballs
Rocky Road
In the past I've also made:
Apricot balls
Truffles - various kinds
A rich christmas cake - not the traditional kind, this one had all different types of glace fruits in it eg apricots, pineapple plus cherries and dates then lots of nuts, with no icing.

i eat naughty treats year round 🤪
i’ve been buying a few festive themed treats from aldi lately, but that’s more because they’re there than any other reason. we usually don’t eat much differently around the silly season, like if people give us stuff and it’s laying around then sure, it gets eaten. but we don’t really have any traditional treats we indulge in for christmas.

Pfeffernüsse. One of my best friends in high school was Dutch and she introduced me to them all the way back in year 7 and I have never had a Christmas without them since. So delicious.

The little round German ginger biscuits with the white icing all over. No idea what they are called. And spice cookies with flaked almonds (maybe also German? Or Dutch?)
