    Default Protein shake

I'm pregnant (21 weeks) and planning on breastfeeding. Is this shake ok to have in my breakfast smoothie? Here are the ingredients.

Whey Protein Concentrate, Fibersol-2™ Soluble Maize Fibre, Collagen Peptides, Cocoa (9%), Minerals (Calcium Phosphate, Magnesium Oxide, Ferric Pyrophosphate, Zinc Sulphate, Potassium Iodine), Dextrose, Vitamins (Ascorbic Acid, dl-alpha-tocopheryl acetate, Niacinamide, Riboflavin, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Thiamine Hydrochloride, Vitamin A Acetate, Folic Acid, Ergocalciferol, Cyanocobalamin), Natural Flavour, Soy Lecithin, Natural Sweeteners (Steviol Glycoside, Thaumatin).

I struggle to get enough protein throughout my day so i like to add this with milk and banana into my morning smoothie but just wanted to make sure it's safe while pregnant and breastfeeding.

    Thank you!

Does it advise on the label? Usually they’ll say if it’s suitable. Personally I wouldn’t consume this while pregnant.

I’m pretty sure vitamin A is toxic in high doses in pregnancy and there’s a lot of ingredients in there I wouldn’t risk.

    Default Protein shake

If it is pregnancy and/or breastfeeding friendly, it should state it clearly on the label/pack. I used shakes (Healthy Mummy) and they have a specific one for pregnancy, but their normal one is suitable for breastfeeding and their protein powder states clearly that it’s suitable as well.

If it doesn’t state that it’s suitable, I wouldn’t consume it.
