    Default Bush Fires

I thought I would start a thread for those who are impacted by the fires to let us know how you are going.

It’s going to be a bad couple of days, please everyone stay safe!

Stay safe all, and indoors if you live in the Brisbane, southern Brisbane suburbs and Ipswich corridor, and especially if you have respiratory issues, the young and elderly.

As an aside, this is a timely reminder for me to buy a fire proof bag for our birth certificates, passports and backed-up hard drive etc.

The air is awful! It seems clearer than yesterday but I’ll be putting the aircon on and keeping everyone inside.

The haze seems to be reduced since yesterday up here on the hill but I haven’t been out and about yet.

My besties DH is with the rural fire brigade down in the valley. He’s been on the go since Friday.

    NSW looks horrific

    Good thread Mum-I-Am.
It might not be the right thread to post this as I am not impacted by the fires, but I wanted to say that I am genuinely confused today about the real risk of being impacted by a bush fire in Sydney. I can't decipher if it's all sensationalism when it comes to Sydney, or if there is a probable risk.

My suburb is on the border of Sydney - I am on the outskirts approximately 4km from what is dense bush all the way up to the Central Coast.

@MissMooMumma you are on the CC aren't you? Stay safe xx

My understanding and I could be wrong is that if a fire starts in these conditions the outcome would be catastrophic. So no fire no issue.

Hi my lovely, yes we are. We are on high alert. We are close to a far amount of bush on one side & beach not too far on the other side. It’s very hot & quite humid here already, fingers crossed everyone stays safe. My uncle has lost his home, he’s up north near glen Innes. It’s so sad.

How have u been anyway?? I tried to pm you a little while ago but your inbox was full. Hope u are all well.

    Stay safe today everyone xo

We are still at home. The car is packed with photos and passports and birth certificates. We plan on leaving after lunch. There are 2 places down the mountain that are taking in mountain residents with pets. We will probably go to one of them with our dog and wait and see. Can’t prepare much more than that other than closing the fire shutters when we leave. Our house has metal gutter guard so no leaves in the gutters.

ETA - all the schools up here are closed
