Default Dexamethasone til 9 weeks - safe?

Hi, Just wondering if anyone has been on Dex til 8-9 weeks?
I am currently 5 weeks 3days pregnant under treatment of Dr Gamal Matthias. He put me on 2mg Dex per day.
My friend just told me that Dex is risky at first trimester and it makes me a bit worried...
I know I should trust dr, but since it’s my 7th ivf transfer I hope everything goes well!

I would trust your dr over what a friend has said.

I've been on it during two pregnancies and it's fine. You need to get off it after 8-9 weeks and switch to prednisone, which I'm sure he'll do.

Yes I was on it until 9w too. He switched me over at 9w to prednisone. Dex crosses the placenta which is why you switch over once the placenta starts to function.

The effects of dexamethasone on babies are unknown.

There is no reliable study looking at the effects on human pregnancy, on babies in utero or after birth, (including in adulthood, the effects of some teratogenic drugs only begin to show in puberty or beyond ). Animal studies show adverse effects, but there is no reliable data on the effects on humans.

Dexamethasone crosses the placenta, and starts crossing at the earliest stages of placental development, not only once the placenta takes over.

    Thank you BB77.
I had my first dating scan yesterday at 7 weeks. But they could only see an empty sac. It’s heartbreaking. I am waiting to have a natural miscarriage if it can happen.
I can’t believe this year the same month my baby left me again. I had a miscarriage last year as well in October.
