Hi everyone ! I’m new to here, I’m 38 and We are hoping to go back in December for our final Ivf treatment , I was just wondering if anyone here is familiar with accessing super to use for treatment ? I am aware it can be done some say you need a psych report and others have been successful without it ? If anyone can help me on this I’d greatly appreciate it ! Kind Regards😊

I recently accessed my Super for IVF and all I needed was a GP and FS to fill in forms and my quotes and I was approved.

Thankyou so much for your reply 😊I’m glad you were able to do it 😄 I’m sure my doctor will be happy to complete it just wasn’t sure whether they needed to write a report as well or if it was just basic answers on the form ! Thanks again

    Hi Nat,

I've accessed my super 3 x times now for IVF. Most recently a few months ago for my last cycle.

The process is super easy - don't let anybody try and convince you to use a company like SuperCare. The ATO website very clearly outlines what is required and it's much quicker and simpler now that they have taken over applications compared to when it was managed by Department of Human Services.

I'm not sure how @Kitty 26 managed to get around it, but all my applications were under "Compassionate Grounds - Medical Treatment - Acute or Chronic Mental Illness".
When completing the online form, you will be required to choose the categories under which you are applying. My understanding, is there is no other category under which IVF will fall.

I had to submit with my application:
1 x report by a medical practitioner (my GP was fine)
1 x report by medical specialist (a pyschiatrist who can diagnose a mental illness, not just a counsellor or psychologist)
    All quotes required for treatment
(- fertility clinic, hospital, aneathetist, sperm or egg donations, etc)

This page will tell you how to apply, and what evidence is required as part of your application.
    https://www.ato.gov.au/Individuals/S...e=2#Howtoapply

It's a lengthy process only in collecting the evidence. It's a 20minute process online to upload and complete the form.

Also - be thorough in making sure all the information is correct. Reports must also be dated within 6 months of the application date, and the application can be rejected for quite small things such as an incorrect date, or a missing ticked box etc. I've had this happen, I simply corrected, uploaded within the hour and was approved.

    Good luck!

Miss Blanks , Thankyou so much for taking the time to reply to me it’s greatly appreciated 🌈 also I wish you all the best in your treatments . Just wondering if anyone is familiar with a psych that’s familiar with doing these reports?

Hi, with regards to using your fs to fill out report. Some will and some won’t. So your best bet is to ring your clinic and ask if they will. The ATO changed it a while back to make it easier. Unfortunately my fs was one of those that wouldn’t fill it out as she wasnt comfortable with it. Some of us ladies went through GP2U and made appointments with dr Vincent Leow. He’s easy to talk to and knows the right way to word the report. You will need a referral from your doctor first. Hope this helps

    Hi Nat,

Are you in Perth? I'm happy to PM you if so and let you know who I used. I found it quite difficult to find somebody comfortable to complete the form. If not, as above - I've seen Dr Leow's name quite a bit and I think he does skype appointments.
I had no dramas with any of the reports as I have a documented history of mental health, so was able to provide the GP and the pyschiatrist with this information to assist in the reporting.

    Good luck x

    Hi Miss Blanks,
Can you access your super to pay for IVF even though you’re using an egg donor and clinic overseas like South Africa for example?
