Default 3 embryos - more than 1 success?

    Hi ladies (or gents)

We have been super lucky to have 2 babies through ivf. I had 3 embryos the first time and we had a success with the second one (frozen transfer), no success with the other 2 (did not attach at all - BFN). We had 3 embryos on our second round and got our second baby from the first fresh transfer and now have 2 embryos frozen.

I would really like a third but don’t want to go through more ivf and just wanted to hear from ladies who have been lucky enough to have 2 take home babies from one batch with only 3 embryos? I’m thinking that because only 1 out of 3 worked with my first batch and we’ve already had our take home baby with the second batch, these last 2 frozen embryos won’t take. Just wanting to hear some positive stories. Thanks! Xx

Following along- im in the exact same situation and have decided it my 2 frosties don’t take then that’ll be it and I’ll be happy with just 2 kids. Whilst I say this, I could very well change my mind when it comes to saying this is it for us. Although my youngest is only 8 weeks but definitely keen to try for number 3 in about a year.

    All the best!

@Mashie - congrats on Bub #2! we really are in similar positions except my second is 1yo. Haha I hear you about changing your mind about more rounds but I’m not wanting to try until about 6 months by which time I’ll be almost 38 and not sure I can go through more ivf rounds at 38. My amh was only 10 when I had my second and I don’t think dh would be on board for more rounds

Having said that I’ll be devastated if the 2 embryos don’t work which I know in my heart of hearts is a slim chance. Did both your kids come from the same batch?

We had the help of an egg donor to have our family. We did one cycle of IVF with her and were very lucky to get six embryos from that cycle. The first (fresh) transfer resulted in my daughter who is now two years old. The second transfer was a BFN. The third transfer sees me 23 weeks pregnant at 45 years old

We are one of the super lucky ivf couples.
1 full stim cycle 1 3day transfer and 3 frozen embryos.
Fresh transfer resulted in my 3 yr old.
First frozen transfer is my 15month old
FET on Thursday currently in the tww.
We still have one embryo in the freezer for back up if this transfer hasn’t worked.
We will not go for another stim cycle and will just have the 2 boys from ivf (have an older naturally conceived boy too).

I have a friend who got 2 babies from one batch of 3 embryos :-) i think it depends on age and reasons for infertility personally. My friend had pcos and didnt ovulate in her own and was about 28 years old.
Id say if you are under 35 your chances are pretty good especially if its worked before and you know you can get preggers. Good luck! (She going back for another round to try for no.3.)

Thanks @gorgeousgeorge. It’s so nice to hear the positive stories and maybe it means we might have another 1 in our 2 frosties too 🤞

Hi @Gelati, I don't have 2 take home babies yet but have one almost 2yo and am currently 16weeks pregnant from same batch of 2 embryos. So they both took.

Before going for #2 my FS did mention that the chances of success is higher following a successful pregnancy so you never know

    Best of luck!
