Honestly.. you’ll come to dread cleaning the high chair. We did baby led weaning and we used to argue over who cleaned it as it drove us bonkers. Don’t worry about the frills, go the IKEA one! It’s hands down the easiest. Think squished in food in all the nooks and crannies and your kid covered in food. The last thing you want is a high maintenance chair!

I have ikea no problems 3 kids later it’s still going, but I think as your ds is small it wouldn’t suit him. You’d need to pad it out so he wouldn’t slip n slide around

Thanks for this thread. Perfect timing for me as I'm in a similar position looking for a high chair after a long gap! I used to have a peg perego. I saw one of the star kidz ones listed second hand and was wondering what it is like too. I'll watch with interest.

Yeah that’s partly my thinking- I mean he is still a way off starting solids but he likes being at the table with us, and I figure it’s a good way to introduce the concept to him (by him watching and sitting with us). I had the Kmart version of the ikea one and while it’s great for older babies and toddlers, I wasn’t a fan overall. I’m loving the star kids one though- it seems to tick the boxes of what I’m looking for so might give it a go. If it isn’t suitable I can always sell it and try something else.

I bought the Peg Perego Siesta off eBay for $90 - it's $399 in Baby Bunting and it was in barely used condition.
If you don't mind second hand, it's worth looking - you can get something that cost a small fortune for much less.
