    Default Breastfeeding Medication

Hello, has anyone tried domperidone or any other meds for increasing supply? What was your experience? Did anyone have any side effects?

Yes have tried Domperidone but at triple dose for it to do anything. I saw a breastfeeding friendly gp who prescribed 3 pills 3 times daily instead of 1 pill 3 times daily.

I saw a great improvement in my supply after her upping the dose my regular gp had prescribed.

Yep, I was put on it to bring my milk in after I gave birth - and it worked a treat. I was able to wean off it until four months later when my Dad unexpectedly passed away. My milk dried up overnight (from shock) and I was prescribed it again. It bought my supply back and I was able to BF my daughter successfully until 13 months when she self-weaned

I tried everything but medication with my 1st bub and just started to EBF at 3 months for a few days, then she had a hungry spell and I was back to needing formula. I saw a GP then who prescribed 1 tablet 3x a day. It did help but not enough to EBF.

With DS when it became clear on day 4 that I was having the same supply problems my OB put me on 3 tablets 3x a day. That meant that I had enough milk to EBF. I dropped to 8 a day total and chose to continue with a formula feed a day.

I was never able to wean. In fact I could drop my dose the day prior if I knew I would need to give a formula bottle extra the next day (eg. Working) the impact it had on my supply was that directly related.

I had it and it worked for me, I was feeding twins at the time and couldn’t make enough to feed both of them, but with it I could, I was on 3 per day initially then went up to 4. I also used it for my single baby after the twins and was on 3 a day.
