Measuring small with IVF pregnancy

Hi lovely, yeah i dont think hcg is any use at 6 weeks and they say hcg no use once you've had a scan and heartbeat.
I hope lots of ladies pop in to say they been a week behind and everything was ok.
Im hoping the discrepancy is because of innacurate measurements due to the difficulties in actually getting clear measurements and i have heard people say they are only measuring in mm so if they are a few mm off, if different sonographers see different things or use slightly different points to take the measurements maybe that makes a lot of differenceat such an early stage.
I wonder if next time, you coukd get 2 different sonographers at the same scan place to come in and measure and see if they get the same measurements.
Sigh...

That's how I feel mate - SIGH It's been such an awful start to the pregnancy. I remember with DD we had our issues at the start as well, but never did I feel like maybe she wouldn't make it. I guess I'm just worried and hormonal and stressed - and it's hard to feel positive when you're looking at blood every single day. I mean, I know where it's coming from and all, but still ... not pleasant. I do hope I'm one of the ladies who can pop back on in a few weeks and say "I am glad all that worry was for nothing - bub is fine..."

My belly babe measured 5 days behind at the 7 week scan which there were no concerns about. I think they only really worry if there's a week or more difference.

In all the scans I've had since, baby has measured ahead of the original dating scan, much more in line with IVF dates. Bub is now measuring in the 80th centile.

Given the positioning of your uterus and how easy it is to be a mm or so out at this very early stage, I don't think 6 days behind is a huge concern, especially since the heartbeat is strong and has shown a nice increase.

Thank you so much for your positive response, and congrats on your pregnancy! I do wonder if maybe my uterus is obscuring a good view - and hence skewing their measurements. Fingers crossed that is indeed the case...

My DD measured 7-14 days behind my entire pregnancy. She was born on the 15th percentile and is now a very healthy 2 year old on the 98th percentile.
Try not to stress, easy to say I know. It’s only a matter of mm to measure out.

This pregnancy at our 7 week scan we measured 5 days behind, at 12 weeks 7 days ahead and now at 32 weeks we’re right on dates

So glad to hear I am not alone in this, thank you for responding! I feel like all my IVF friends are measuring ahead of dates rather than behind as my bub is - so it's good to know I'm not alone in that. Congrats on your DD and your pregnancy

@Blossom74 Hugs mate, what a ride. I would have replied with the same response as @gorgeousgeorge. If bub's measurements are still behind next scan, I'd be bolshy about asking for the most senior sonographer to have a look. You've got grounds to ask after this many scans. I hope you get beautifully reassuring news this week.

Thanks hon. Yeah, I feel like I've been in limbo for so long now! I will definitely ask for a second opinion if I'm not happy with the first radiologist. I guess if bubs has grown appropriately during this next week (ie: 7 day's worth of growth within 7 days) then that's a good result. As long as he/she doesn't fall further behind That's my fear of course. It's so hard, this part. Waiting, waiting, to see if my baby will be ok.

My DD was measured 1-2 weeks behind the entire pregnancy, now she is a healthy 22 months old. Like other said, at this stage 1mm makes a huge difference in growth measurement. Try not to worry too much, fx the sch will get absorbed soon. I get the daily blood worry, I went through the same this pregnancy and everything turned out ok, rest as much as you can hun xx.

All good news at this week's scan! Baby 'caught up' on the days he/she was measuring behind, and is only 1 day behind now which is just fine. HB was 170 and the hematoma actually reduced in size a bit! It's still large BUT the bleeding has started to subside a little compared to what it was. I am just so thrilled. Thank you everyone for your support!
