Default What name would you chose?

A friend has just let us know that he is transitioning to female. Soon she will be using a new name.

It got me thinking about how you would chose a new name.

My name does have a male version, so I might go with that. Though I don’t really love my name, so it might be easier to go with something completely different.

    What would you do?

I would probably go with something completely different to my name. Probably something I love as a baby name but can't convince DF to go with lol

Default What name would you chose?

DH went to school with someone who transitioned from male to female. Changed both first and last name to fit new identity.

If I was born a boy mum was going to call me Stephen. Not a name I’d choose myself so that’s out. There’s not really a masculine version of my name. There are some similar but not to my liking. I think I’d change my name 100% to something completely different. What that is, I do not know.

My name is gender neutral so I guess I’d just leave it. I actually think my name is a better boys name than girls name. I’d happily pick a new girls name for myself.

When my son transitioned he chose something similar to his old name. I think I would just keep my name, as it is completely neutral.

The partner of an old friend transitioned male to female and picked something completely different. I think I would pick something completely different but what I haven’t thought about. Just to separate the identity.
