Default Car seat arrangements with a toddler and newborn?

So I have my 20 month old on the left side of my car in his seat and I’m due July/August and I wanted to put baby on the right side but doesn’t look like there is a hole for the anchor to be attached and apparently it costs like $700 to do. I had a look and I have another anchor point next to the other one which means they would have to be side by side.

My question is, has anybody had their toddler and newborn next to each other, I’m afraid that my toddler might get irritated being so close to baby with all the crying etc and might throw things at it, I don’t know! I would have preferred to have them at different ends, what are other people’s experiences?

I have my 4yo and baby next to each other.

I have my 2yo on the other side. My concern with my 2yo would be her poking baby or something.

    Good luck

I’d be comfortable with a four year old and baby next to each other but a 2 year old leaves me abit nervous. Thanks

That's odd that there are 2 out of 3 seats with anchor points? Have you had someone look from under the car? I would put money on there being a hole there...🤷‍♀️

I too wouldn't be keen trusting a 20 month old next to newborn though.

I had newborn in the middle of 20 month old & 4 year old- I was worried about that too but seats wouldn’t fit any other way. It was fine- I think from memory the 20 month old couldn’t reach bub so no real threat

My 2yo insisted on sitting next to her new baby sister. Even though the baby pulled her hair and scratched her. DD1 never hurt the baby, it was the other way around.

Is it a sedan or hatch? The hatch has a point in the middle at the boot locking point that can be anchor point for a carseat in any of the 3 seats across the back. That's really hard to explain. .hope it makes sense!
