Default Low heart rate at 6 weeks

Asking this for a friend who I am concerned about...

She is 6 weeks along (give or take a day) with a singleton IVF pregnancy. She went for a scan today and told me that 'everything was great, baby was in the right place and it had a heartbeat of 83 beats a minute...'

I don't know a great deal about these things, and I understand it's still super early, but 83bpm sounds low to me?

I haven't said anything to her about it, and I don't intend to. It's not my place and I don't want to create any undue worry for her. I'm just trying to prepare myself to be the best support possible to her should the worst happen. I'm hoping and praying it doesn't come to that.

Does anyone have a similar story of a low-ish HB at this stage.

Do you think this could still be viable going forward?

    Thank you

At 6w mine was 94 and I was told it was slow, and to come back in a week. I stressed heaps but GP said it was fine, it had probably only just started beating. A week later it was over 140. Next time I’m not getting a scan until I’m at least 7w because boy was that stressful!

That's awesome, congratulations! I really do hope this is the case for my friend. She's already had one loss and I am so worried for her. I had a later scan with my pregnancy (7 weeks) and my bub's HB was 155, so I guess the 83 kind of worried me. Thank you for replying x

He’s 16 months now and a very boisterous little boy!

I see so many people having early scans and being stressed about it, I reckon they shouldn’t scan until 7w unless there’s pain or something else. Or at least encourage people to wait.
