So Dr has now referred me to a gastrologist (sp?)
He thinks I may have IBD, I’ve been reading how it can be hard to TTC with having this.

I guyess without having the tests done yet it’s hard to say anything for certain but I’m just wondering has anyone else got this ?

How do they treat it ?
Is it hard to conceive with it?

Obviously I want my health back but we also wanted another bub

You’ve probably been referred to a gastroenterologist. I have Crohn’s Disease (a type of IBD) and that’s the type of specialist who cares for me.

There are a range of diagnosable IBD conditions. My advice, don’t do too much googling...it’s all so negative and list all symptoms/issues...doesn’t mean you’ll have them.

I’ve had no issues conceiving/maintaining a pregnancy but the advice I was given was to conceive whilst I was in good health as there’s a very high chance the good health will continue through pregnancy. Conceiving when you’re really unwell with IBD can be tough as many fast acting meds they’d use to treat acute illness can’t be taken during pregnancy. I’m on long term meds and I still take them when pregnant.

Good luck with your journey. Hopefully you’ll get specific answers soon after meeting your specialist.

And your question on how it’s treated, it all depends on what the diagnosis is. Diet has been a big one for me and over the years I’ve seen dietitians to keep me on track to help control my symptoms. I’ve also taken tablets. There are also injections and I think infusions...anyway, like I said above, dont over think things until you have answers...IBD is such a broad description for so many things.

Thank you for your answers. Dr told me to google it and I couldn’t work out what I was suppose to google lol.

My appt is later next month so I’ll wait til then. I have a dermatitis around my mouth and they think it’s all part of the IBD (also psoriasis, bloating, bowl issues, fissures etc)

Fingers crossed we can get an answer. (Google wasn’t any help anyway)

I had ready it’s hard to fall pregnant with it and not to try during a flare up (not trying any time soon until it’s sorted but DD is 3 now )

    Thanks again

Just thought I’d check in to see if you’ve seen a specialist yet? Hoping you’re feeling ok.
