Default Spin off- favourite retro food.

So the dip thread got me thinking about my favourite retro foods.

Kabana is high on my list, even better when sliced and put under the griller for a few minutes.

Meal wise it would have to be apricot chicken although my sister and I made some recently and neither of us could work out why we loved it so much.

i remember apricot chicken from childhood. a recent attempt at it was a failure though, not sure what i did wrong but it just didn’t work. i’m meaning to revisit it though.

beef stroganoff would have to be my fave retro classic. beef wellington too. oh and prawn cocktail.

for dessert, definitely some kind of fruity and heavily liqueury trifle/eton mess.

    My mum’s tuna mornay.

Haven’t had it for years (DH loathes tuna, so I don’t try and replicate it at home), but it’s seriously the best comfort meal

Cheese ball is another, yummy but I’m kinda embarrassed to admit it.

Holy balls that spaghetti jello is all sorts of wrong.

Not sure it would classify, but mine would be toasted cheese sandwich in the sandwich maker, with the disgustingly tasty Kraft singles cheese slices inside.

Or just a sandwich of singles cheese between two pieces of bread that have butter and Vegemite on them.

    I'll see myself out.
