    Default Weird belly thing

Just curious if anyone has had similar.
I was attempting some leg raises earlier (laying on my back and lifting my feet just a few inches off the ground). I noticed my belly button pops out. There is also a lump down the middle of my abdomen. About the size and shape of a sunglasses case, or just a bit smaller. It’s vertical with the bottom of it where my belly button is.
What the fudge is that? I’ve never had it before. I can’t feel anything when I’m relaxed, only when my stomach is under strain like that.
Is it something I should be concerned about or is it just the result of housing a basketball team worth of kids in under a decade?

I had four children in relatively quick succession and have never had that happen.

I think it is worth getting it checked out by a doctor incase you have a hernia / something else.

Sounds like muscle separation and possibly a hernia. Definitely worth getting it checked and referred to physio.

Definitely get it checked as it could be a hernia. Not pregnancy related but when DS2 was a few weeks old he was constipated and grunting and writhing all night long for a week and he managed to pop his belly button out. Turns out it was an umbilical hernia which just corrects itself over time (if it doesn't then possible surgery but it corrected itself). I don't know much about the different types of hernias for pregnant women but I definitely think it's worth having it checked out anyway just to be on the safe side

You probably should get it checked out and I’d imagine you may need to see a physio if it’s not a hernia. I’ve still got a little bit of abdominal separation after my two kids. I’d probably stop doing any exercises involving your core muscles until getting it checked out.

I have that....it looks wierd hey. Mine was muscle seperation and an umbilical hernia. My GP isn’t too bothered about the hernia as it’s not bothering me. I did exercises for my tummy and I got the gap to about 1-2 fingers but it still looks odd when under strain

Thanks everyone. I suspect it’s nothing too serious as there is no pain at all or anything. It was just weird to see my belly button (quite a deep one) pop out so started poking her around and yeh.
Will go to a GP when I get a chance and use it as an excuse to have some time off from the floor stuff
