Default Earliest you have seen a heartbeat?

My OB has requested an early appointment with me due to my history of multiple miscarriages. It's scheduled for tomorrow when I'll be exactly 6 weeks according to LMP.

I'm already extremely anxious about this pregnancy, but I'm worried it will be too early to see a heartbeat.

I'd love to hear from others what is the earliest they had an ultrasound and saw a heartbeat? Or also those who had an ultrasound around 6 weeks and didn't see a heartbeat, but went on to see one at a later scan?

Can you ask for an internal US? I was told they can pick up the HB better at that stage.

Earliest was with my 2nd at just under 6 weeks. However with my other pregnancies, no heartbeat has been seen before 6.5 to 7 weeks.

5+6 has been the earliest but through internal scan. Heartbeat also seen at 6 weeks on external scan for this pregnancy but when they measured the heart rate they thought it was 72 because they picked up mine! Internal showed heart rate of 128 so I would always push for an internal so early to save any worry!

Thanks everyone! I'll ask for an internal but will also try and mentally prepare to not see a hb. Oh the joys of early pregnancy!

I was told I had an empty sac at 5w3d, 6w3d and 7 weeks. "No fetal pole, no yolk sac, no baby and no heartbeat" was what I was told.

Then, at 8 weeks, there she was - with a heartbeat of 163!

I have a tilted uterus so it made things more difficult to see.

Just to round this out... internal ultrasound today at exactly 6 weeks and one tiny flickering heartbeat at 111bpm. Oh the relief. Thanks everyone for sharing your stories, it helped ease my over anxious mind!

I remember having an internal around this time and my (straight talking) FS said that a HB at that stage had like a 90%+ chance of having a baby in about nine months time. I found it soooo reassuring. All the best ❤️
