Haha! And on that note...here is a post on Facebook shared by one of my Muslim friends. It’s actually her brother who originally posted it and then she shared it. He also happens to be running for a seat in the senate.

My 5yo kindergartener heard a news story about the election this morning, and then started talking about how they have a vote for various student council positions at school as well.

Then she said "I didn't vote though". I asked why - she said that she doesn't know enough about the big kids running, and she thinks that if she votes for one of them without knowing enough they might actually be a baddie.

So she doesn't feel that making an uninformed choice is responsible........ I'm so proud.

So I just opened the mail and it had the traditional election week letter from my local member... oh wait no it’s not a letter from Tony Abbott at all. Instead it’s a letter from Mathias Cormann (please vote Liberal, no mention of Tony) and another from Gladys Berejiklian (please vote for Tony). Radio silence from Tony himself.

Which begs the question... Has Tony phoned a friend for help? Or is this the party’s last ditch attempt to stop the protest vote?

This is terrible. Apparently a lot of renters in my local area were sent this via their real estate IMG_4292.jpg

The REIA are terrible. They opposed the recent changes to renters rights in Victoria for pretty much the same reason. Rent prices actually seem a little cheaper in my area atm compared to a year or so ago.

I get that people just buying houses will no longer want to have low rent to knowingly take a loss, but anyone previously doing this can continue to do so. It's scare mongering again

I think rent prices are driven by supply and demand rather than ability of landlords to claim negative gearing. However, the ability to negative gear may influence the attractiveness of having a rental property and therefore number of rental properties available (ie supply), and ultimately altering rents.

The REIA should stay out of politics.

I don’t think it’s a labor / liberal thing, I think there are just a lot of people who don’t understand how the income tax system works. Neither party is proposing on changing how the system works (although I think some parties may be proposing to alter the rates).
