    Default Overseas prescription nightmares

    Hello,
Firstly I have never been on a forum before so apologies if this topic has been covered. Needing advice.

We are in Melbourne. So my husband & I went last year to ivf Spain, left some sperm & are planning to go back this August & using donor egg.

So far communication is great with ivf Spain. my biggest hurdle is I have their plan to follow but I can not get the medication. I have original script from Spain. My gp will not rewrite script & to see ivf specialist will be after I’m meant to be taking one of the meds on script.

Looking back I would have pick up meds in Spain if I’d known we have this drama.

Can anyone please help give me advice if you had same issues and would be grateful for any help

    Thanks xx

@stacey10 does the international pharmacy you used still ship to Australia?

My friend Stacey10 might be able to help. Otherwise maybe try and find a different gp. Some wouldnt help me at all, others were more than happy to help.

Might depend what the meds actually are? GPs arent allow3d to write scripts for certain meds, they have to come from a specialists. May I ask what the specific meds you need a script for are?

Try fertility2u, you’ll have to ask them, they used to send to Australia, but I’m not sure now, you can send them an email, just google them, also your Spanish clinic should be able let you know if international pharmacies that will post meds, usually your clinic will have to send the script to the pharmacy. I think another one is called ivfmeds.

Thanks gorgeousgeorge for you information. The script is for progynova, utrogestan, decapeptyl injection & the pill. My local GP wouldn't even give me the pill.

Also IVF Spain said that Slade in Richmond might be ok to go to as one of their clients when there. Told me that I need an Australian script

Hi stacey10, I will definitely contact fertility2U. checked them out on line and it looks hopeful. IVF Spain did give me details of another online pharmacy and once I put order in they contacted me and said that they suggest I cancel order as they have has problems with Australian custom with last 2 orders.

Yeah i had a gp throw me out if his office when i said i was doing ivf overseas! I tried another one who was really supportive. So unfair they can be so different. I'm sure a nice gp can get you progynova and the pill. Not sure about the decapepty and utrogestan im sorry. My aus FS gave me those.

You might have problems with fertility2u and the decap injection, I don’t think they like posting that o/s anymore, I never had a problems getting my stuff, nothing your ordering is restricted in au so not sure why people are having problems with customs, maybe it’s because they’re not ordering with enough time, incase it’s held up at customs, as I said nothing is restricted so it should all come through. Maybe contact ivfpharmacy and see what they say or see if you can find some bulk billed clinics, sometimes the dr’s there are more helpful. ETA, I did an online search and now it seems that you have to have an Australian script included with your medication order, if it’s a prescription medication. This wasn’t the case when I ordered online, so it seems the Australian government have changed this requirement.
