Not a horrible baby name as such, but I don’t understand the contestant on the Block’s name being Elise, but it’s written as El’ise.

What's the verdict on someone using a name with an accent over a letter, if they are from a culture that doesn't use accent (australia) E.g. ě instead of a regular "e"

Yes. The one I'm thinking of is an unusual name anyway, but they've added the accents to it too 🤦‍♀️

I think if they don’t have connections to the culture and just use it for the aesthetics then no, not a fan.

My mum had that perfume called Chloe when I was a kid and it had the accent mark on it. I thought that’s how it was spelt for years!
To me it probably just makes it harder for the kid to write etc.

That's been around for a long time, and I'm guessing a standard spelling for some cultures, rather than a butchered spelling.
