    Default Antenatal depression?

I'm almost 33 weeks pregnant and have been having difficulty dealing with things for a couple of weeks now. Today it got to the point where I can't stop crying and can't snap out of it. My stepdaughters behaviour has been difficult to deal with for awhile and it escalately lately, so I thought I was just not coping with that but I don't think it's just that. My husband said I'm 'scaring the kids' (7 yo stepdaughter and 9 yo stepson) and I need to pull myself together but I don't know how. I have a history of anxiety and depression and am on antidepressants already. Any advice would be much appreciated thanks.

I’m so sorry you are feeling like this . Do you have a GP you feel comfortable talking to ? What about the midwives? Ob? Psychologist ? Please know that it’s ok to ask for help .

Wishing you much luck with the remainder of your pregnancy

I’m sorry you’re feeling like this. Please talk to someone - gp, midwife, obstetrician.
I hoped mine would disappear when bub was born but for me it ramped up more. Not saying that will happen for you. But if you talk to someone now, you might be able to put some strategies in place for when bub is born.

Definitely go see GP, they can refer you to a psych under a mental health care plan or maybe you could self-refer to a women's health counselling service? You deserve support

I agree make it a priority and schedule time for yourself to talk to a counsellor or psychologist. Yes a GP can give you reduced fee appointments (not free anymore unfortunately). I had ante and now post natal depression with my 4th child but simply talking about it and making some lifestyle changes (vitamin D, good diet exercise and sleep) has made a world of difference. Good luck. You are worth the time on yourself.

Thanks for your replies everyone. I managed to get a cancellation with the psychiatrist I've seen previously and saw her this morning so we're going to put some strategies in place. Have an appt with the psychologist this week too so hopefully that helps too

Good luck with it. I had a horrible 1st tri until about 14w with depression and anxiety but I also had some stressers including ms/hospitalisation. If it had continued for much after that I would have done the same. I still have bad days but it's mostly good. I'm petrified of having pnd.
