Default Need help choosing clinic for egg donation cycle

    Hi,

I’m trying to decide between Fertility Argentina or Conceptions Centre for Ovum Donation , based in Honolulu.

    What’s your thoughts? Experiences maybe?

    Thank you 😊

I haven’t used either. I know my FS quite liked Fertility Argentina. I met a lady who recently had her gorgeous little Conceptions baby and she was happy with them. But they are very expensive.

I guess some key things I would ask for egg donation is:

    - How do they find their donors? What age range? Are they paid or altruistic? Are they proven? How many cycles do they do as a donor? How many families do they donate to? Make sure you are comfortable with their business model
    - Are the donor’s anonymous, open (or ID release at 18) or choice?
    - What info will you receive about your donor? This can vary from simply eye/hair/skin colour and height up to hugely detailed profiles, photos etc. Will they tell you if donor is proven or has kids? Do they provide you with a donor code? (Can be useful if you are telling your child about the donor and they want to try to find donor siblings etc in future)
    - Do they match you to a donor or do you choose from a list? If they match, how do they do it?
    - Do they have any guarantee? Eg minimum number of eggs or embryos or even pregnancy? If so ask how it works - what happens if you get less than this? Eg 0, 1, 2 embryos etc. Do they have a back up donor? Do they find a new donor? Will this be fresh or frozen eggs? Who pays for the new cycle? Is it at their cost or do you pay a discounted fee or even full fee? What is their definition for an embryo - cleavage stage or blastocyst etc. Are there any conditions or caveats? Make sure the details are in writing (I am currently fighting my clinic over a dodgy guarantee!)
    - What’s included in the cycle cost? What’s extra? Eg is embryo storage included? ICSI?How much are subsequent transfers? How much is PGS (if you choose to do it)? If you do a lining check at their clinic is that included? Etc
    - Will they use IVF or ICSI?
    - What information will you receive about the donor’s cycle?
    - Do they use fresh eggs or frozen eggs or a choice?
    - For fresh eggs will they do a fresh transfer (higher success rate)
    - How long do you need to be in Argentina/Hawaii for both fresh transfer and any FETs
    - is there any waitlist? How long does it normally take to get matched with a donor and complete a cycle
    - and of course what are their success rates!!

Have you also checked out the egg donation threads on here? There’s ones for Greece, South Africa, Czech and Spain which are all quite popular. I think if you do a search there’s also an old thread discussing Conceptions.

    Best of luck!
    R

Thank you so much for your reply @Risa78, you're a wealth of knowledge. I wouldn't of thought of asking most of these questions.
Sorry to read you're fighting your clinic for a dodgy guarantee.

After I posted this yesterday I received an email from Conceptions and I nearly fell over because of the price. Financially I don't feel it's an option for me. No doubt it's a great clinic and it's stated their success rates are higher than 80% which is amazing.

I see Dr DeAmbrosis in Brisbane and he was encouraging me to go to Agentina. That was in 2017 and things may have changed since then.

I will check out the other threads.

    Thanks again, Amanda

Default Need help choosing clinic for egg donation cycle

Lol, yes. I almost fell off my chair when she told me how much her cycle cost in Hawaii!

Waz was still keen on Argentina last year when I asked for his thoughts on egg donation. But also sent me info on a few clinics...
    - California IVF
    - Greece - Embryoland
    - Greece - Serum
    - Greece - Embryolab
    - Donor Eggs Australia (shared donor program in Greece so no leftovers embryos)
    - Czech - Zlin
    - Czech - Gennet

I had a consult with California last year and quite like them (I was looking at their embryo adoption program which has an awesome pregnancy guarantee but they do egg donation too without the guarantee). I am about to start my research again and will re-look at Argentina, Greece (Embryoland, Serum) and South Africa (CFC). I really like some of the Spanish clinics too (but more $$s). I don’t think Czech treats single women so that’s the only reason it’s off my list.

    Edit: spelling

Woah I didn't know Woz retired! What happens now? Find a new FS or has someone replaced him? Many years ago I was with Dr David Molloy.

In April 2017 I did my final cycle using my own eggs then in August I went to a seminar regarding Argentina. I'm needing double donor (eggs/sperm).

I'm in the process of researching and trying to work out best option and thinking I may want to go back for a sibling later. I'm actually starting to get very confused. I think it's up between Greece (Dr Nikos) and Argentina. Does Dr Nikos do double transfer?

Thanks for the list! I'll work my way through them.

    Are you based in Brisbane?

Yeah, he retired at xmas. Very happy for him, but he’ll be missed!

You could try Charlotte Mooring who used to work with Waz. She’s set up her own rooms in South Brisbane. I live in Sydney but did a few cycles with Waz and Charlotte last year.

I no longer have an FS in Australia. Instead I just work with the overseas FS, take their plan to my GP who rewrites scripts and gives me referrals for scans and beta blood tests. Donor cycles have a lot less monitoring. There’s one script she can’t rewrite (Lucrin depot shot, which not all clinics require) but I also see a reproductive immunologist for my immune protocol and he can write it for me. If I get a BFP he’ll be doing all the monitoring etc. If I didn’t have him I’d probably want an FS though.

I am pretty sure Dr N does double transfers. He seems to be well loved by the ladies on the Greece forum.

From memory Waz has retired a couple of times. I loved him but DH wasn't keen lol.

I need to find out more information about embryo adoption, I'm pretty keen if it's considerably cheaper. I'm not interested in any clinic that does egg freezing. My experience hasn't been great. On my second cycle (years ago) DH didn't have any sperm (not even one) so my eggs had to go on ice. Dr Molloy was keen to put them with donor sperm. I swapped FS to Waz and he basically said to discard them and start again with a fresh cycle so that's what we did.
I've read a bit about you recent experience and I'm so sorry this has happened to you.
