Default Little Luxuries at Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach

    http://www.princeofwalesprivatehospi.../maternityunit

Prince of Wales Private has a Little Luxuroes program where mothers can move to after birth to recover. I’m planning on caesarean.

Has anyone done that? How was it?

Did your private health fund cover, and how much? I’m with Medibank.

Check with your health fund- most cover hotel stays, some (NIB for example) don't.
I'm in Melbourne and had a CS with DD. I could have gone to the hotel but missed out as I didn't say "yes" straight up.
I don't really feel like I missed out, the days flew by and I ended up needing monitoring after the birth- I think I would have ended up back at the hospital.

Just looking at it briefly I would say that if you're having a caesarean, it's unlikely you would eligible. Odds are you would have greater care needs than a vaginal delivery.

I’m in SA and the hotel offered here doesn’t cover you if you have a caesarean only a natural birth. Read very carefully and ask your OB when you have that sorted.

Is there any reason why you need to have one as your still early into your pregnancy? I e had 2 but only for medical necessity otherwise I wouldn’t be here. I’d opt for the vaginal birth any day of the week as I had with my first

With private cover it depends on your fund you would actually have to call them yourself and ask the question.

Thanks ladies. Seems like no one here has used the service at PoWP yet. Didn’t realise that hotel accommodation option is common.

Good point re. the likely care required should I have a caesarean. There are nurses there too but let’s see.

I’ve called Medicare and the agent didn’t know and was going to find out. I’ll follow up. It’s technically “in-hospital stay”. 🤞🏼

    There’s much to learn...

Why is this program so not popular?

the hospital i’m staying at has the parenting program at the grand hyatt. you can go if you’ve had a cs, you just need to get clearance from your ob, so mum and bub need to be ok. i didn’t realize some health funds don’t cover it? i assumed from their perspective it was no different to staying in a hospital room??

Thanks, what program was it and with which hospital to stay at the Grand Hyatt? That’s nice!

I’ll follow up with Medibank again and share back.
