    Default Split holidays

    Anybody do split holidays?

I'm considering taking just the two younger kids and flying interstate to see family. Leaving DH here with two older kids.

He would then take the two older kids interstate in a few months time for their own holiday (also seeing family).

It just sounds so much easier, when there are 6 of us everything is extremely expensive and tricky in one hit.

I only have one DS so this isn’t something I need to consider for myself.
But I think if it works for you and your family then that’s all that matters.

Yes, we do frequently. We have girls weeks away, and boys weeks away, or one of us will just take one or two away.
It works fine. Kids have grown up with it and are very accepting of it.

We have done similar, for instance DH and DD went to Perth by themselves last year while DS and I stayed home with the pets. I took the kids overseas with my mum recently while DH stayed home (pets ).

    Default Split holidays

We’ve never done split holidays, but I’m certainly open to the idea as we too have 4 kids and it’s not always feasible to all travel, so I would definitely consider it.

However, in my own family I was one of 4 as well, and my parents would sometimes do split holidays as my Dad’s family lived far away from us which would be either a 3 day car trip or a domestic flight and domestic flight costs back then were exorbitant. My parents also did this if there was a wedding or Funeral and we couldn’t all attend and it always worked out well.
