Hi everyone,
This is my first post on a forum ever but after 8 failed IVF cycles and the news today that at 6 weeks 1 day pregnant (result of our 9th IVF cycle) I have had a missed miscarriage, I feel like I need some positive encouragement and to chat to someone who has gone or is going through something similar. Is there anyone out there with some positives? We want to keep trying but it is becoming harder and harder to believe and stay positive. I now have to wait for the actual miscarriage to take place, which is just so hard, I also still have pregnancy symptoms because I think the gestational sac (although empty) is still producing hCG. Thanks

Firstly, massive hug hon. Will there be a follow up scan to check if the sac is indeed empty? I have heard cases where fetus and hb were found in the follow up scan as 6w is very early. Xoxo

@Btae, thanks for your reply. I have follow up blood tests to track down my hCG levels but no follow up scans. 2 separate scan clinics + our IVF doctor have told us that by 6 weeks, there should be a yolk sac and a fetal pole but it’s completely empty. We were told that if it was a pregnancy from natural conception, they’d get us to come back for a follow up scan as it could be too early and we may have miscalculated. However because we knew exactly when the double embryo transfer was done, we knew exactly where in the pregnancy we were...

Have a read of this thread especially blossom's experience. I don't want to give you false hope but I still think another scan at 7w to double check wouldn't hurt. Maybe you can go to GP to get a dating scan referral

About my own experience, I did 7 stim (1 cancelled due to failed trigger) banked 6 pgs normal embryos over 18 months. I transferred twice single FET both ended in bfn. Then I switched fs(who did my last 3 stim). Then double transfer with 2 bb grades embies which gave me my 16m DD. I just went back for another transfer in December and am now 7w pregnant.
It's a tough journey, but all worthwhile when you hold your precious bub in your arms. Hang in there hon.
I should add I needed immune protocol and a lot of drug support (kitchen sink) approach to get my take home bub and the current pregnancy.

Thank you, will have a look and congratulations on your success!
We’ve done 9 full cycles with 3 different clinics. Our issue is very likely chromosomal issues with my eggs (I am 37) as we always collect quite a high number (19 last time) but only end up with 1- 2 viable embryos. Over the time, we have transferred single blastocysts, double morulas and double blastocysts with this one being the first positive. We are lucky in that we can keep going on financially for now but are now considering embryo testing before transferring to try and minimise the anxiety and heartache with each failure... it’s nice to hear other people’s success stories after multiple failures because you do start doubting if it’ll ever happen.

Hi @AjaP i read your post and thought id share my story too as I know how it feels and wanted to send some hope.
I started trying naturally when I was 30...didnt happen, got divorced. At 34 found anew partner and we tried naturally for 6 months, no luck.
We did 4 full stim cycles and i only managed to produce 6 pretty crappy embryos out of those cycles, all negative.
Decided to try donor eggs when I was 37. I transferred 2 beautiful blasts, bfn. Tried again with a different donor 2 lovely lookong blasts, bfn again.
Switched to using donor eggs and sperm in case hubby had undiagnosable issues too. Transferred 2 blasts and one of them is now my 18 months old daughter.
Then, somehow i fell pregnant naturally 9 months after having my donor embryo little girl and im now 2 weeks away from having a little boy.
It seems crazy to me but honestly all I can say is that I am so so glad that I never gave up and I tried everything that I could even when it got so hard that i had pretty bad depression after all the ivf failures.
Sometimes all you can do is just to try your best to keep going for as long as you can and to know that you aren't alone on this toughest of journeys. I genuinely started to believe it would never happen for me but the thought of giving up was always harder that the thought of continuing to try. I found reaching out through bubhub and realising I wasnt alone helped me be able to keep going. I hope other ladies pop in and share too.
And yeah, happy to chat anytime you need. Im so sorry that you've had such a tough time so far xx
