Just FYI - in Qld at least, shopping centre Santas don't need a Blue Card.

    Not sure about other states.

    That is very scary....

    I *think* Victoria is different.
I'm having a baby brain moment and can't work it out...

    Exemptions are for:
    - children (e.g 17yo volunteering with a younger scouts group/sports etc)
    - police and VIT registered teachers, so long as they are current and active and not suspended, cancelled etc.
    - parents volunteering with an activity their cold regularly does. E.g. if your dd does dancing and you make costumes
    - family members/ closer relations caring for a child. (Nan, aunt, uncle, cousin, close friend etc) unless placed there by someone officially (e.g.court)
    - interstate visitors. E.g.a teacher doing a camp.

The closest I can find is.... (under occupations needing one)
""Commercial entertainment or party services for children that are not merely incidental to other business activities"

Gosh my heart goes out to that darling little girl and her Mum/family, what they must be going through is unimaginable.

And I had to stop reading any social media comments on this case, as the deplorable things written about the Mother, was why I despise social media in these incidences.
Sure, one can read this article and use it as a personal timely reminder to always be vigilant etc, etc, but I would hate to be that Mum and have to read what I read today, given what the poor woman would already be going through.

How horrible. Those creepy photos of him too - what is with the one of him holding two babies - the guy is obviously a paedophile!!! Turns my stomach.

Honestly now that I have four kids under 7, I never take all of them anywhere by myself where they can wander out of sight. Only fenced, visually open playground, library I can park right out the front of, etc. Or hubby there to help manage. I've had moments at the shops where I can't spot my 2 year old for a few seconds and it gives me nightmares afterwards. I think that's a bit irrational really, considering the rarity of these crimes, but stories like this just fuel the fear.

It scares me to the core. My granddaughters are very confident and not at all frightened of any one. I can see it would be so darn easy for either one of them to be taken. The younger one would just walk off and follow a puppy or even a darn balloon. I worry so much about them. Marie.

Well they caught him. Scariest thing about it is HE is the father to TWIN GIRLS.

    Hope child protection is investigating.

Horrifying and scary to think things like this happen in broad daylight in the middle of a shopping centre. That poor little darling I can't imagine what her mum is also going through as well

This shakes me so bad - I often have let my kids in Coles or target wander to the toys while I go down another aisle, I always make sure they are in earshot but this has made me rethink.

So I just read that he is known to child protection in QLD and has been investigated for other offenses. I hope the mother of his children rethinks this relationship and never lets him near those little girls. I hope he get locked up and the key thrown away, but know he will most likely be out in under 3 years. The sentencing laws for rapists and pae.dophiles is far too lenient. They should get a minimum of 10 years for each offense. Instead, they do a couple of years and get out only to reoffend again, and again and again. It's sickening. I'd be quite happy for scum like him to be subject to capital punishment if there was forensic proof. They should not be allowed to rejoin society so they can ruin more people's lives.
