    Default New Zealand

We are headed to New Zealand for almost a week in jan, kid free. We are flying in and out of Queenstown but will hire a car for the middle part.
Anything we must do or see? And accommodation recommendations? I’m finishing accomodation hard, we don’t want anywhere too pricey except for maybe 1 night

The whole south island is stunning and there's so much to see/do, but with just one week you could easily fill it in the Queenstown region. Summer is great there - jetboating, ferry to the island where there's a tourist farm and horse riding, the gondola up the mountain, they have the best mini-golf I've every seen (at the base of the the gondola), the luge - plus the food is excellent. In the region there are good cool-climate wineries, the glass roof bus to the ferry around Milford Sound, tours of 'Lord of the Rings' country and lots of treks/kayak etc type activities. Nearby historic Arrowtown is so pretty and their bakery has pies worth the queues.

Can't help on accommodation as we've always stayed with friends.

Thank you. Definitely interested in visiting the wineries and arrowtown is on the list. Undecided if we do Milford sound yet as apparently it’s a long day?

If you have a car, you can drive to Milford Sound yourself and stay somewhere at the Sound. You can also do a day trip (either self drive or tour), from Te Anau. The glow worms at Te Anau are worth seeing as well.
