A hearing test is something I need to do to rule out any issues there. There are some good practical tips here. I don’t think we have been talking to him enough in a toddler friendly way - if he wants something it gets handed to him by one of his 4 servants at home. I think his much older siblings take the approach of, take this and be quiet so I can get back to my iPad. In the last few days I have told everyone at home to make an effort to repeat words and get down to his level when they are talking.

My DD is about to turn 17 months and had no words. Lots of babbles and I'm not really sure she understands much either... she says dada a lot but not really at her father... she says wow a lot. Several months ago she was saying 'ta' for thanks but I haven't heard it for ages. She understands 'no' and 'ta' like when I'm asking her to give something to me but that's about it. She's not walking either but crawling and standing like a champ. I'm pretty worried but keep getting told not to until she is closer to 2....

Just an update for others with this concern. I decided to wait a couple of months before having DS speech assessed and so haven’t seen anyone yet. DS will be 20 months next week and in the last couple of weeks has had a major jump in language. Hoping he now continues his development in this area.
