Default Paid parental leave while taking long service leave

    Hi everyone
I am planning my maternity leave options. Next year I can take long service leave which I will do while on maternity leave from my job. My question is.. can I access the government ppl while on long service leave?

No I’m pretty sure you have to be on unpaid leave from work to receive to gov PPL. What you can do is take your 18 weeks of PPL, then have your leave from work start or vice versa. A friend of mine used her LSL, annual leave and PPL and ended up with almost 12 months of pay.
I had my work pay me 4 weeks of leave, then had my PPL start when I had DS.

From what I understand, it is not necessary to be on unpaid leave from work but it is necessary that you are not working while receiving the PPL. I am on paid leave from my employer and have been approved for PPL so I think it is fine.

You can certainly receive PPL whilst being on another form of paid leave.
E.g. You can receive both employer paid maternity leave payments alongside PPL

Not too sure but what I did was take my 16 weeks paid parental leave from my employer, then I took my annual leave, then took my 13 weeks long service leave and then the government 18 weeks parental leave. I had a year off paid.

When in had ds2 2 years ago I was informed you have to take it all consecutively not all at the same time .

I did annual leave then long service at half pay then ppl.
I’m doing the same thing this time around for no 3 due in a couple weeks

You couldn’t take annual leave and LSL at the same time, but as long as you are on leave from work (either paid or unpaid), you can access your govt. PPL

I found this article when planning my leave. So in short yes you can take both PPL at the same time as your LSL . That's what I'm doing
