Default PPL and quitting my job

Has anyone claimed PPL and resigned from their job at the end of their pregnancy? I'm not intending on returning to my job after baby. Am I still eligible for PPL? How does it all work?

I don’t think it matters what you do afterwards as long as you satisfy the criteria beforehand

I would apply for maternity leave and then resign before your return date. People do it all the time. I wouldn’t do it to a small business but a larger one I would.

check the eligibility criteria. you should be eligible? i would definitely resign after the ppl is finished but before you go back to work. agree with mum-i-am re the size of the business too; small employers can get away with a lot shadier stuff than bigger employers can, so choose your battles wisely.

what does it say on the centrelink website re ending employment after getting ppl? i’m sure you’re not the first nor the last to do it. anyway people’s circumstances change, surely there’ve been people who received ppl with every intention of going back to work, then due to unexpected circumstances have been unable to do so and had to quit their job. it happens 🤷🏼‍♀️

I'll go back and look. So damn confusing lol.

Actually there's only been 2 of us to go on maternity leave while working there. I've gone twice and the other lady has gone 3 times.

Whoops.. I thought you meant at my work, not in general lol

This! I would imagine that heaps of people would intend to return and even just decide they don’t want to or can’t. It’s not like Centrelink can argue with you deciding that returning to work isn’t right for you.
