Oh wow that is such huge news!! It is such a great thing when you dont need them anymore and so good for your purse as well.

I understand the out of routine stuff that the holidays bring. I am on the edge as is, and even though things have been at a minimum chaos level, I am really struggling to maintain my cool.

Yes. Everything is ok. Working my way through how i feel about dd2 situation (she got $14.5k accommodation scholarship). One minute i am ecstatic the next i am freaking out. I think it will be good for her to be so close to uni (melb cbd) and it will force her to interact more with other students. But I am freaking out about her living alone. Walking alone in the cbd streets at night. She doesnt shop or cook but she will need to do both. I had got used to the idea of living with her sister in suburbs.

So yeah just normal mum freak out i suppose.

Both my primary school asd bith anxieties are through the roof about going back to school ds2 is being a cat (his anxiety protection mechanism) 80% of the time. It drives me batty as face rubs and padds on me. Ds3 has built a fort that includes the galf pulled down christmas tree and if any gets to close or touches it ends up in a 2 hour min meltdown. Problem its in the entry way to the kitchen.

Today was dd2 final surgeons check up. We rock up and they without telling changed her appointment until after she leaves. There solution after you move go the gp and getca referal to royal melb faxmax team and have them do it. Yeah because they won't have a very long wait list right. In other words just forget the whole check up process. Its not like it her whole face or anything. Oh yeah it bloody well is.

That really sounds like a load bs. And stress. So much stress.
I really hope everything improves. I think half the issue is how long the holidays are, its gives them so much more time to stew and regress

Well we are coming to the end of the holidays, thank crap.

DS2 has reached his limit. DH forgot to give him medicine today, first time in a long time we have seen him without. And was a good reminder why he was on it. As happy and beautiful he was today, full of giggles, he was full on, jumping on me, head butting me, but having a great time doing it.

Ds1 has visited his friend for a night, and tonight his friend is here. We are getting them ready for school camp. I have to admit having an extra kid sounded daunting, but so far so good. WE have a tent set up outside, so I hope they successfully fall asleep out there.

The holidays have been bareable, but seriously I am so done now, I want it to be the day back already.

This year I have to address my health, because I am on the decline. I have issues with my hormones and it is beginning to take its toll on my body. I also am experiencing quiet a bit of pain in my knee and it sounds like a bowl of rice bubbles when I bend it...
I am also thinking about taking a week long holiday this year, 1 with and 1 without my DH.

Back to school today and all my kids were happy and excited to be back which is nice!
Hayden is obviously my biggest concern. The main thing I wanted for him this year (grade 5), was for him to have a structured classroom with one understanding and SOLID teacher who would be there 9-3 mon-fri... because in his ENTIRE schooling career starting from Kindy, he has never ever had that. He's always had shared teachers, or teachers who have left him, or gone through multiple teachers in a year.
Anyway... out of all 4 of my kids, he is the ONLY one who did not get to meet his teacher last year when they found out their new classes, as she was away.... and then this morning - she was the only one of my kids teachers that I didn't get to meet... as she was away.
Meh. Not the start I was hoping for!

That's really not great they should of at least tried to arrange for him to visit the class before transition or something.
Ds1 every year they get him to do VIP tasks, (Taking random things) to his new class room and teacher before the actual transition day. Just in case the teacher does come up sick ..

I really hope he settles in for you

First day yesterday Charlie was very resistant to go and kept saying he was scared and cling to me until the bell rang then he sat at his desk. His teacher seems lovely and is coordinating with last years teacher to put in place the things he had last year such as his reward system when he has good and productive days as well as having the daily schedule on his desk so he knows what’s coming. Plus she rang me Friday last week to ask which friends he had in the class so she could sit him with someone he knows. This morning he was still resisting going but once there he seemed happy enough and sent me off once he had everything unpacked and this afternoon he is saying he wants to go tomorrow so fingers crossed tomorrow morning is easier.

CazHasKidz, that is far from an ideal start! Hopefully things settled today?

Loodle, it’s great the school is communicating between teachers at least. Hopefully tomorrow is even easier for you.

DD started back today. She wasn't overly looking forward to it, but she'll be much calmer now her routine is back. I got up at 7am this morning and she had already done her music practice, math online program and was fully dressed and ready I was too scared to ask when she'd woken up. She's happy and calm tonight which is a good sign from my perspective. Didn't say much about her day though.
