I'm mum of a gorgeous 9yr old with asd. I consider him aspie, even if the terms not common anymore.
Divorced his dad a long time ago, and have found an amazing man who I'm TTC with and getting married to. My DS loves his step dad but so much happening at the moment makes things hard for him.
He's coping, but all the traits and emotional regulation issues are coming out.
My wonderful future hubby is learning with a baptism of fire on just how far you can and can't push DS, but he's super supportive and sometimes takes him to ot, psych or other therapies

    Hey @White Mage

Yes, it has been quiet - I'm guilty of not updating for a while. How are you going?

We're plodding along well. DS has been really good lately - school seems to be going well too. He isn't very forthcoming with who he's socialising with when asked. If I ask him who he's played with he says "I don't know". Hope he's happy whatever the case

I've been looking at social skills classes for DS next term. We will be a bit short funding wise though, around $500. Trying to decide whether we cover the shortfall ourselves, or whether I get in touch with our NDIS contact for her suggestion.

Food therapy will start back up in July. I think we need it to push us back into trying new things. DS loves going, so that will be good to get back into.

    Hey @Degrassi

Its good to hear DS is doing ok at school. My DS1 answers all my questions about school in the same way, he also says "I don't remember" or "I am tired" which usually tells me he has used all his brain power today. He is 10 this year and has started to slowly give me more about his day, although it still feels like pulling teeth sometimes.

We seem to get social groups using the NDIS with the therapy money because apparently it's run by a therapist, so it counts as therapy apparently. DO ask NDIS before hand though.

Food therapy is so much fun. DS2 does it as well, and it shows, he rubs food on his face now, its gross lol.

Things have been hectic over here, we moved house.

I am now planning DS1's birthday party for August. He wants an air hockey party... I had no idea how we were going to do that, but My mum has said she will buy him an air hocket table for his birthday. (Thanks Big W) SO I am planning an air hockey tornament at my place. Invite 7 kids, and then they can play against each other, who ever wins gets a prize. Still kind of working out what kind of prize, but I am thinking a collection of things that DS1 likes, like a deck of Uno cards, A bag of chuppa chups and Pikachu plushy or something, and of course a plastic gold statue.

Had to get DS2 from school today and take him to the doctors, the poor kid has an inflamed member. So antibiotics for a little bit. Had no idea he had a problem... I feel so bad about it too.

Hello everyone!! it's been a while! How is everyone doing?

We have been busy with school and therapies.
NDIS funding got accepted and gave us funding for therapies.
School is going really well..(grade1) school is very supportive of my son and I love it so much!
First time he went on a excursion and his aid said he did really well and is very behave. He enjoyed riding the bus and walking with his classmates.

I finally found things that worked really well with my son... SOCIAL STORIES and Visual schedules... no more meltdowns
I've made him a velcro schedule board and he arranges it according to his daily schedule it minimize his anxiety and he knows what to expect of his day.

We still have drama at school but teacher said that it's not a big deal, his classmates love him. Every time I pick him up from school they wave bye and even walk with him. No real close friend yet hopefully we will get there.

    Hope everyone is doing well

Hi everyone! Good to hear things are going pretty well for everyone.

Things are okay here. We're moving house in a couple of weeks which DD is very excited about. I'm sure it will take some adjusting to though. It will be the first time the kids have had their own rooms which I think DD will enjoy (and need as she heads towards the pre-teen years!).

School is going pretty smoothly and DD seems happy there despite no solid friendships. Lots of lunch time clubs to keep her busy! She's also started scouts which has been an extra opportunity for socialising and fun activities. Looking forward to reports coming home tomorrow to see how she's going academically. I don't think there's major issues though. And then holidays!

Survived the 1st week of holidays. A few hair pulling moments.
Ds2 had 3 days at his hi holiday program. He bit his carer on the 1st day, he kept running back to the bathroom, weren't sure if he was fascinated with the lights or if actually needed to go.
I came to the conclusion that he was maybe a little constipated.

My mum is back from Bali. She had a fall over there and is a bit banged up.
I will hopefully see her this week.

Ds1 has been bearable. Moody little butthole. Isn't listening and getting upset when I call him out. I don't think I have stopped yelling at him actually. Blows my mind he turning 10 soon.
